‘Jurassic World 5’ Likely To Introduce Human-Dino Hybrids, New Update Suggests
Jurassic World 5 could finally introduce human-dino hybrids.
Earlier this month, The Wrap reported that Universal is eyeing filmmaker J.A. Bayona for Jurassic World 5 (TBA) after Jurassic World Rebirth (2025) director Gareth Edwards exited the project over “creative differences.”
Of course, Bayona will be familiar to fans, having previously helmed Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom (2018), which remains one of the most divisive films in the long-running franchise.
The Spanish director, also known for the film The Orphanage (2007), injected gothic horror into the dinosaur series, with the last half of the film taking place inside the Lockwood Estate, where characters Owen Grady (Chris Pratt), Claire Dearing (Bryce Dallas Howard), and Maisie Lockwood (Isabella Sermon) faced a terrifying genetic dinosaur hybrid known as the Indoraptor.

Despite mixed reviews, it grossed $1.310 billion worldwide and led to another sequel with Jurassic World Dominion (2022), which saw Jurassic World (2015) director Colin Trevorrow return to the director’s chair. Now, Bayona could helm the follow-up to last year’s Rebirth.
Scarlett Johansson (Zora Bennett), Mahershala Ali (Duncan Kincaid), and Jonathan Bailey (Henry Loomis) are reportedly set to return; however, plot details remain unknown.
Rebirth grossed $869.1 million at the global box office but also received mixed reviews from audiences and critics. Nevertheless, according to The Wrap, a screenplay for the untitled sequel has reportedly already been written by David Koepp, who penned the script for last year’s film.

Jurassic World 5 Could Feature Human-Dino Hybrids
If Bayona lands the role and is given any sort of creative influence over the script, it’s entirely possible that he could reintroduce elements from Fallen Kingdom, such as the quasi-gothic tone and some storytelling elements including human cloning and hybrids like the Indoraptor, which many fans believe is part human, with several clues throughout the film supporting the theory.
It’s also worth noting that Rebirth took place on a third InGen island where mutant dinosaurs like the Distortus Rex and the Mutadons had been left to their own devices. So it’s hardly far-fetched to consider the possibility that the next film will take things further and introduce the long-discussed human-dino hybrids. Some fans believe the 2025 film readily sets up this concept.
There’s no release date for Jurassic World 5.
