Jurassic World Rebirth (2025) will be roaring into theaters worldwide on July 2. The first official trailer that dropped a few months ago left a lot to be desired, teasing a humor-filled dino romp that feels completely at odds with the original Jurassic Park (1993), which the cast and crew continue to promise has massively influenced the upcoming sequel.
But despite the trailer’s shortcomings, there’s still a growing buzz in the air about the seventh installment in the iconic long-running film series that has grossed over $6 billion worldwide. This time, Gareth Edwards (2014’s Godzilla) is at the helm, with Jurassic Park and The Lost World: Jurassic Park (1997) scribe David Koepp back in the writer’s room.
Taking the charge against genetically engineered mutant dinosaurs (known as the Distortus Rex and the Mutadons) are Scarlett Johansson’s covert operations specialist Zora Bennett and Jonathan Bailey’s paleontologist Dr. Henry Loomis, who are tasked with leading a top-secret mission to a third InGen island where they must retrieve life-changing dinosaur DNA.

Over the past few months, fans have been growing increasingly impatient for the second trailer. While there have been clips and TV spots, it’s mostly recycled footage from that first trailer, which shows Johansson, Bailey, and the rest of the ensemble cast facing the Distortus Rex, the new Tyrannosaurus Rex, a Quetzalcoatlus, several Spinosaurs, and the Mosasaurus.
It looks great, but seeing the same footage reused for months has become dull. The synopsis doesn’t sound great, either — while the film is dubbed as the start of “a new Jurassic era,” the plot feels derivative. But now, the second trailer, which was teased over the weekend, has finally arrived, and it comes with plenty of new footage. Hold onto your butts for this one.
