Disney’s Animal Kingdom Theme Park is perhaps best known for Kilimanjaro Safaris, which offers breathtaking animal exhibits and the thrill of seeing real wildlife up close. But one group of Disney Park guests recently got more than they bargained for during their journey through the Harambe Wildlife Preserve when a group of wild boars decided to make an unexpected appearance—on a bit of a “rampage.”
A Disney Parks fan recently shared their memorable encounter on Kilimanjaro Safaris, where they witnessed a surprising burst of activity from the usually lazy boars. “Last time we went, we saw the wild boars running around ‘doing a rampage,’ or something that the guide said,” the guest, who posted on Reddit as u/Iznal, recalled. According to the guest, even the safari guide seemed excited, noting that it was the first time in two years he’d seen the animals so animated.
Kilimanjaro Safaris, one of Disney’s Animal Kingdom Theme Park‘s most popular attractions, transports Disney Park guests through a sprawling 110-acre recreation of the African savannah. Throughout the 21-minute ride, guests encounter a variety of African wildlife, including giraffes, elephants, lions, and even rare African-painted dogs. Every ride is unique, with animals sometimes blocking paths or, in this case, surprising guests with a “rampage.”
Wild boars, known for their sturdy build and inquisitive nature, usually explore their habitat leisurely. Seeing them dart around and stir up excitement is rare, even for seasoned Disney cast members who interact with these animals daily.
The Disney Park guest who witnessed the boars’ romp shared that the experience was far from frightening—just a lighthearted and unexpected twist on their usual Kilimanjaro Safaris adventure.
Disney’s Animal Kingdom Theme Park offers other places to observe wildlife beyond Kilimanjaro Safaris. Guests can explore the Maharajah Jungle Trek to see tigers in Asia, wander the Gorilla Falls Exploration Trail for a close-up view of gorillas and hippos, or visit Discovery Island’s habitats to see otters, lemurs, and more.
