Do You Know These 6 Points About Disney’s Boardwalk Inn?

Disney’s Boardwalk Inn is an amazing resort with so many amazing amenities.  The resort is also in close proximity to tons of restaurants, transportation options and more, which is why the price tag to stay at the resort can seem kind of high.  The resort is definitely in the Deluxe category and has all of the Disney Deluxe amenities like valet, a club level option for your stay and more. 6. The first Deluxe / DVC resort combo.

The resort first opened in 1996 and at opening was home to deluxe resort rooms as well as DVC villas, too.  This makes it the first resort to that opened with both accommodations from opening day. The resort still has one main lobby for guests to check in, no matter which accommodations they have selected.  All resort guests get to enjoy the amenities of the resort and the same beautiful grounds either way.  You also don’t necessarily have to be a DVC member in order to stay in the villas, so consider either option for your next stay.

5. There are tunnels.

Yep, that is right!  The tunnels aren’t just a Magic Kingdom thing (and Epcot).  There also tunnels that run under Disney’s Boardwalk and to areas of the Boardwalk Inn.  The tunnels are used to move merchandise, trash, cast members etc. through to various points without detracting from the theming an entertainment that is happening around the resort and Boardwalk area.  It is very efficient means to move things around without interfering with the guest experience.  It’s genius!

4. There’s a scary clown slide.

If you haven’t ventured over to the Boardwalk Inn, you definitely need to do so soon!  The whole area is meant to be have a very traditional Boardwalk/Carnival type of theme, and this especially carries over to the pool right to the huge clown slide.  I don’t know if Disney intended for the clown to be scary, but it looks pretty creepy, especially if you are one of those folks who have a huge fear of clowns!  The slide, called the Keister Coaster water slide, takes you on a fun ride and then shoots you out right through the clown’s mouth!  It is definitely an interesting sight to see in Disney World.

3. Walk to Epcot.

From the resort, you can take a short walk to Epcot and enter right at the World Showcase entrance to Epcot.  This is great if you want to pop over for dinner, drinks or to watch the fireworks in the evening.  You have the convenience of walking to an entrance that puts you out right in the World Showcase and at the end of the evening, you can just walk right back and now have to worry about waiting around for the available transportation options.  It is really convenient and a very peaceful stroll that is free from the hustle and bustle of the rest of Walt Disney World resort.

2. Super close to dining, bars and shopping.

The Boardwalk Inn is in an amazing location!  You have all of the amenities of the resort, but not only that you have the shopping, dining and bars located at Disney’s Boardwalk.  There are some pretty awesome 21+ clubs for adults that are interested in Disney nightlife.  The restaurants, ice cream shops and more are also amazing!  You will also find street entertainment, caricature artists and more there, too, for a complete Boardwalk experience and a lot of fun!

1. There is room for private events.

There is a 20,000 sq. foot convention center and various gazebos and pavilions that are available for rent and use for private events.  There are weddings held at the resort at certain times and locations throughout the week.  The convention center is able to be used for company/corporate events, wedding receptions, parties, etc. if you want to cough up the high price tag to plan an event there.  It really makes the resort the entire package and flexible to meet any of your needs, no matter what they are.

About Christy Caby

I am a diehard Disney fanatic! I fell in love with all things Disney from an early age and that only increased once I first visited Walt Disney World! It led me to complete a yearlong Disney College Program working at merchandise locations within Disney’s Hollywood Studios (Disney-MGM Studios at that time) and I worked for Disney Parks & Resorts Technology in Project/Program Management. Now I get to write about Disney and help others plan their magical vacations! Disney holds a special place in the hearts of my entire family as my husband proposed there, we honeymooned there, took trips while pregnant with each of my boys and have visited with them many, many times from 8 weeks old through now. One of my favorite memories from each trip is always the look on my kids’ faces the first time they see the castle. I’d love to help you plan your magical vacation!
