After a turbulent box office run and months of polarizing headlines, Rachel Zegler‘s Snow White (2025) is back in the spotlight—this time on Disney+. And while the live-action remake struggled to break even in theaters, its arrival on streaming signals more than just a second life for the film — it may be Disney’s way of reaffirming its confidence in Zegler.
From the beginning, Zegler’s casting sparked debate. Audiences took issue with her remarks about the original 1937 animated film, her political stances, and even her heritage. When it was finally released in theaters earlier this year, it grossed only $205.5 million worldwide against its $240–270 million budget and received negative reviews from fans and critics.
Now, with Snow White available to millions of Disney+ subscribers, Zegler has another shot to win over audiences without the pressure of box office projections or opening weekend buzz. This is where perception of both the film and its star can truly shift.
Viewers who skipped the theatrical release might give it a chance at home, where expectations are lower and curiosity often wins out.

The studio’s decision to promote Snow White‘s streaming debut—rather than quietly letting it fade into the dusty vaults of Disney flops—shows a deliberate move. They want people to watch. And if numbers on Disney+ trend upward, it may help rewrite the film’s narrative.
Not only that, but it may help restore faith in Rachel Zegler, who, let’s face it, is an incredibly talented actress, having wowed audiences long before in films such as Steven Spielberg’s West Side Story (2021) and The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes (2023).
So, while some fans wrote Snow White off months ago, Disney suddenly seems to be doubling down on both the movie and, in turn, its star. Whether or not audiences are ready to move on from the controversies, the message is clear: Rachel Zegler isn’t going anywhere.
