Magic Kingdom Location Closes To All Guests After Flooding, Updates Given

The Magic Kingdom location has been updated following its indefinite closure earlier this week.

At the Walt Disney World Resort, change is afoot. It is present in almost every theme park, but all eyes are squarely on the major transformation happening to the crown jewel of the Orlando destination: Magic Kingdom. There, guests will eventually be able to enjoy two new lands. The first being Piston Peak National Park, themed after the Cars franchise, and the second, a Villains Land featuring a Maleficent roller coaster, plus many more new experiences.

As such, Frontierland is amid a very drastic evolution. Last year, Disney World made the polarizing decision to permanently close the Rivers of America area of the park to make way for the Piston Peak area. At this year’s D23 Expo, Disney Experiences chief Thomas Mazloum outlined more details regarding these new lands, including the attraction names.

While these areas are under construction, Magic Kingdom is still operating Frontierland and welcoming guests to attractions like Big Thunder Mountain. However, this week, an operational issue came to light, with one Magic Kingdom location in the area shutting down indefinitely.

On Monday, August 24, Frontier Trading Post, the merchandise location found in the Frontierland area, was closed due to flooding. The store remained closed on Tuesday, August 25, and reports claimed that cast members were dealing with a flooding situation that resulted in “several inches” of water on the evening of August 23. As a Pin Tuesday location, guests visiting the park on August 25 could purchase new pins on a cart outside the Trading Post.

According to WDWNT, the Frontier Trading Post has now reopened as of Wednesday, August 26. Luckily, the store does not appear to have any water damage, and guests can continue purchasing new pins and other merchandise at the location.
