A new character meet and greet experience is coming to the Walt Disney World Resort, and it’s exciting news for fans of Disney’s Encanto (2021)!
Guests visiting EPCOT recently spotted Mirabel Madrigal, the lead from the hit Walt Disney Animation Studios film, in an unscheduled character meet and greet. With Encanto featured in runDisney events, Disney fans quickly began speculating that the character could be featured in an upcoming meet and greet of her own, especially as she has been a hit in the Magic Kingdom since she debuted in one of the Park’s character cavalcades last year.

Mirabel had also proven a popular meet and greet when she was seen in the past at the Disneyland Resort (where Bruno, the star of the film’s most popular song) had also been featured during special events in Anaheim. Aside from the surprise experience in EPCOT, however, Guests on the East Coast have still been waiting to learn if a more permanent Encanto character experience would be coming to Walt Disney World.
This morning, theme park reporter Scott Gustin was able to confirm that Mirabel Madrigal will debut alongside several new character experiences coming to Disney World throughout this year. The lead from Encanto will greet Guests in the Magic Kingdom beginning this fall.

No further details have been confirmed aside from fall 2023 as to when Guests will see Mirabel make her Magic Kingdom debut, but Gustin was able to share information from Disney that fans of a current character meet and greet will want to note, as he took to Twitter stating:
Disney confirms the Mirabel meet and greet coming to Magic Kingdom this fall will be in Fairytale Garden (currently Merida) in Magic Kingdom. The area will be redesigned to resemble Mirabel’s Casita.
Merida has been a popular meet and greet in the Magic Kingdom for several years now, but it seems her presence and other references to the Pixar film Brave (2012) may be on their way out. The character was recently featured atop her own float and with a group of dedicated dancers in Disney’s Festival of Fantasy Parade, which runs daily in the Magic Kingdom, but this section of the parade has been missing since it returned following the Park’s pandemic era changes.

If you were hoping to see Merida before her meet and greet closes at the Magic Kingdom, be sure to stop by this spring or summer as Disney has not yet confirmed when specifically this fall the location will switch over to Encanto.
Current character greeting times are available in the My Disney Experience app during your trip. As times are subject to change (and some end earlier in the day) we always recommend checking the app for the latest updates during your trip to the Park.
We at Disney Tips will continue to monitor changes to Disney World’s character meet and greet lineup and will be back with new information as we have it.
