Did you know that today, December 4, is National Cookie Day? The sweet treat came to America in the 1620’s, through the Dutch from New Amsterdam. Many different types of cookies are enjoyed throughout the world, including ingredients such as chocolate chips, dried fruit, and nuts. Cookies can be served chewy or crumbly and come in many different flavors, including chocolate chip, snickerdoodle, oatmeal raisin, sugar, and shortbread, to name but a few.
National Cookie Day has got us thinking about the best cookies available around the Walt Disney World Resort. Here’s the list of cookies we love to indulge in during a Disney vacation!
Gideon’s Bakehouse Cookies
Gideon’s Bakehouse is found at The Landing in Disney Springs and is the place to indulge in giant cookies, seasonal cake slices, and Nitro Cold Brew. It’s a popular store to visit amongst Disney Guests, with the line often extending passed the store from early on in the day. It’s clear why it is so popular, though, once you’ve tasted their treats.
The Original Chocolate Chip Cookie was the original product for Gideon’s Bakehouse, having perfected their recipe over 15 years. The cookie is packed with chocolate chips and vanilla flavors and is a must to indulge in when visiting the Walt Disney World Resort.
Gideon’s Bakehouse is also known for its seasonal cookie flavors that feature throughout the year. Each month brings about a new specialty cookie in addition to its traditional flavors. Our recommendations include the following:
- Kris Kringle Cookie – available during the Holiday season, it’s a white chocolate coffee bean cookie with hints of coconut, caramel, and vanilla bean
- Cookie Vom Krampus – also available during the Holiday season, it’s a super rich chocolate cookie that is filled with Andes mint
- Pumpkin Bread Chocolate Crumb Cookie – available in the fall, this colossal cookie is filled with real pumpkin as well as pumpkin spice blend and a little chocolate
- Orange Pecan Chocolate Chip Cookie – usually available in the summer, this cookie celebrates the flavors of Florida and is a vanilla bean chocolate chip cookie that is infused with orange
- Chocolate Dipped Key Lime Pie Cookie – also usually available in the summer, it is made from a vanilla bean cookie dough that is infused with Florida key lime juice and covered with chocolate chips.

The shop is a favorite stop for Guests as they make their way around World Showcase for treats, including cupcakes, caramel apples, fudge, pretzels, caramel popcorn, and cookies. There are three particular cookies that we recommend sampling from the Karamell-Kuche.
The Caramel Apple Oatmeal Cookie is buttery and rich in flavour, and contains plump dried apple pieces. The Werther’s Salted Pretzel Chocolate Chip Cookie is a perfect fusion of cookie and pretzel. It’s a delicious traditional cookie filled with pretzel pieces and toffee, combining sweet and savory flavors. Both cookies are topped with a generous drizzle of caramel.Â
For Guests who enjoy gingerbread, the Gingerbread Salted Caramel Buttercream Cookie Sandwich is a seasonal hit from the Karamell-Kuche. Made of two gingerbread cookies, the Cookie Sandwich is filled with buttercream frosting and salted caramel drizzle. It’s a fair size, making it perfect for sharing.
