EPCOT’s newest attraction is finally here, and Disney World is giving Guests a view before opening day!

Walt Disney World offers four Parks, including Magic Kingdom, Animal Kingdom, EPCOT, and Hollywood Studios. Each Park is their own unique experience with attractions, dining, entertainment, and nighttime spectaculars. While each Park has so much to offer, they are constantly being updated, reimagined, and growing.

This past September, Destination D23, Disney’s biggest fan event, released multiple attractions and experiences coming soon to the Parks. Magic Kingdom is getting a new lounge-themed after the iconic Pirates of the Caribbean attraction. Animal Kingdom will have DinoLand USA reimagined, and EPCOT has a list of new experiences coming! EPCOT has already started its newest meet and greet with Figment in Imagination! Pavilion.

One of EPCOT’s beloved attractions, Test Track, is also going to be reimagined, like DinoLand USA, as Imagineers work with Chevrolet to use the newest technology for the ride. As Figment is already hugging his new friends, the next attraction to open in EPCOT features the Disney Princess Moana.

Journey of Water, Inspired by Moana

Journey of Water, Inspired by Moana, has been one of the most anticipated attractions to come to Walt Disney World. As the official opening date nears, Guests are eager to explore the newest area in EPCOT. The attraction will be open to all Guests visiting EPCOT in World Nature beginning on October 16.

Prior to the opening date, Disney has let some very lucky people go on an adventure that includes water, air, and nature. Disney describes the attraction as a “Stroll along a self-guided outdoor trail where you can play with water as it travels from the sky to the oceans and back again.” As EPCOT is known for its inspiration, environmental intentions, and use of new technologies, this attraction is no different than the rest of the Park.

This summer, select Cast Members were able to walk through the interactive attraction and experience the innovation firsthand. Disney Annual Passholders also received some special treatment. They were able to join in on the inspiring attraction, pulling inspiration from the Hawaiian oceans, as seen in the hit film Moana (2016).

Journey of Water, Inspired By Moana Opening Date

Fans have been waiting patiently for October 16 to roll around for those who were not able to get a sneak peek into the nature-based attractions. Disney announced starting today; they will offer a soft opening to Guests visiting EPCOT through to October 15, right before the opening day.

If you are one of the lucky Guests who already had a trip planned for this October, you may just get to see the statue of Te Fiti before the rest of Disney fans! In the announcement, Disney included, “During these surprise-and-delight opportunities, a virtual queue may be available for guests in the Park to join starting at 9 a.m. when needed.”

A tip if you are visiting over the next ten days: visiting EPCOT during a Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party event may be your ticket into getting into Journey of Water, Inspired by Moana. Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween event is mostly sold out, which means Magic Kingdom will be robust with Guests so that EPCOT could be a little less crowded!
