We can’t wait until Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind opens at EPCOT. The ride is scheduled to start thrilling Guests sometime next year.

Disney Imagineer Zach Riddley is anticipating it as much as the rest of us! He shared new pictures on Instagram, along with the following message:

We are excited to share a first look at our stunning facade being installed at Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind!! This morning we unwrapped the metal panels that will cover the entire front surface of the pavilion. These metallic silver panels bring a sleek, intergalactic aesthetic that fits perfectly in our World Discovery neighborhood.

Soon we will commence installation of our greeter booth in front of these panels that will serve as gateway into this attraction. This structure will serve as our welcome point for all Guests who come to experience the treasures our Xandarian friends have come to EPCOT to showcase.

We have much more progress to share as the exterior of the pavilion takes shape over the coming weeks and as we continue one of the largest park transformations in Disney history.

During the media event for The World’s Most Magical Celebration, we were given a sneak peek at the new ride. We got to see the track, although we were not allowed to take pictures. It is going to be an exciting ride!

At the event, we also saw the new ride vehicles. Riders will sit two across, six Guests to a vehicle. There are special bangs and dents added to the vehicles to make them look like they’ve been in space.

Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind will have one of the longest indoor roller coaster tracks in the world. It will also feature the first reverse launch at Walt Disney World. It will be a family coaster, and is expected to have a height restriction.

We don’t know when in 2022 Cosmic Rewind will open, but we hope that it’s sooner rather than later! Keep up with all the latest Disney information on Disney Tips and like our Facebook page.

About Paula K

I grew up in Western Massachusetts. When I was nine my family went to Disneyland and I was hooked. I grew up, attended New England College in Henniker, NH and eventually moved to Virginia. I worked as a disc jockey, married and became a full time mom when our daughter was born. Fast forward several years. In 2010 we moved to Central Florida and my Disney obsession grew. I now work as a freelance writer and spend my spare time in the parks. Under the name Paula Brown I penned the novels Dream Wanderers and The Coffee Cruiser. I also am a co-author of Dining at Walt Disney World: The Definitive Guide. I'm obsessed with Star Wars, so this is a good time to live in Central Florida. I've been a vegetarian for well over a decade, a choice that my daughter eventually made as well. While my husband still hasn't joined us fully he has given up most meats except for seafood. I was relieved to find that vegetarian dining is not difficult at Walt Disney World.
