It’s been pretty hard to miss the news about the fight going on in Florida between Governor Ron DeSantis and the Walt Disney Company over the “Don’t Say Gay” bill.

The CEO of Walt Disney Company, Bob Chapek, came out against the controversial Parental Rights in Education bill after an uproar from Disney Cast Members in Walt Disney World. Chapek also halted all political donations coming from the Walt Disney Company in the state of Florida, which then caused DeSantis to push to eliminate the Reedy Creek Improvement District that allows Walt Disney to assume governmental control over the land in and around the Florida theme parks.

Who knows where all this will end, but with Pride Month coming up in June, Disney is showing support for the LGBTQIA+ community by starting to release their Pride Collection for 2022 in the Parks.

At the Disneyland Resort in Anaheim, Guests will be able to find some new jewelry as part of Disney’s Pride Collection for 2022 at The Emporium in Disneyland Park. There is a new Pride necklace for $19.99, that has a black cord with a Mickey face pendent, where Mickey’s face is in rainbow colors.

You can also find a Pride Bracelet that will cost you $24.99, which is made up of different colored cords, including black, red, purple, yellow, green, and blue, that are all attached with the rainbow-colored Mickey face pendant and a white charm with the word “Love” in rainbow colors and a Mickey head in place of the O.

If you are on the East Coast then you should check out the Creations Shop at EPCOT for a new Pride Tumbler costing $24.99. This new tumbler is black with rainbow stripes along the top and bottom and the word “Pride” in rainbow colors with a Mickey-shaped head dotting the I. This tumbler also comes with a red straw and a clear top.

In the past, Disney has not labeled their rainbow merchandise with the Pride label, but this year they have added it to the packaging of this year’s Pride Collection. This year’s packaging is also directing buyers to TWDCPrideCollection.com.

We will have to wait to see what happens, but in the short term, we are sure that there will be more merchandise from the Pride Collection released in the run-up to Pride Month. Like Walt Disney once said, “To all who come to this happy place: Welcome.” This is as true today as the day he said it. Surely we can all come together in our love of Mickey Mouse and his amazing friends.
