There are plenty of reasons to stay at a Walt Disney World Resort hotel, and on top of early entry to the theme parks, immersive Disney theming, and complimentary transportation, many onsite accommodations are home to some of the most magical recreational activities around.
As the “Vacation Kingdom of the World,” Disney hotels have hosted recreational offerings outside of the theme parks since the Resort opened in 1971. Recently though, several hotels have received new updates when it comes to ways to spend time away from the Parks.

You probably know about some of the most popular recreational activities at Disney Resorts, like Movies Under the Stars, horseback riding at Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort & Campground, educational opportunities with Disney’s Animals, Sciences, and Environment team at Animal Kingdom Lodge, and fishing at Disney’s Port Orleans Resorts, just to name a few.
The Disney Parks Blog recently shared new fitness-based activities that are now available to Guests across several Resort locations, and we’ve got all of the details, starting with…pickleball!
Pickleball is now available in tennis courts at Disney’s Yacht Club Resort, Bay Lake Tower at Disney’s Contemporary Resort, Disney’s Animal Kingdom Villas – Kidani Village, and Disney’s Old Key West Resort. Guests will be able to borrow equipment making this a fun spur-of-the-moment activity at these Resorts.

Guests staying at Disney Value Resorts are, unfortunately, often left out of enhanced recreational offerings since these Resorts typically come with less activities than their Moderate and Deluxe counterparts. Both Disney’s All-Star Resorts and Disney’s Art of Animation Resort, however, are included in the latest update from Disney with a family scavenger hunt available at each All-Star Resort as well as a family fitness class at Art of Animation.
The new fitness fun at Disney Resorts does not have to stop for the weather (which as you probably know, can be quite unpredictable in Central Florida!) Now, Guests can get a good stretch or some extra movement in without leaving their hotel rooms thanks to Disney on Demand: Family Wellness, new programming included on Guest room TVs. In addition to more physical activities, the system also features mindfulness exercises and information on sleep and nutrition.

In addition to the new fitness-focused activities, Guests at Walt Disney World can always find information on fitness centers and running trails as well as a full list of recreational offerings at their Resorts in the My Disney Experience app.
