Disney’s Animal Kingdom is an incredible Theme Park. Avatar Flight of Passage is one of the most advanced rides at Walt Disney World, and Expedition Everest provides one of the biggest thrills. The Park is beautiful all around; except in DinoLand U.S.A.
If you’re looking for a quiet place in any of the Theme Parks, DinoLand is about as quiet as it gets. There are two rides that are far apart from each other, and a lot of open land.
In 2018 DinoLand was given a bit of an update with Donald’s Dino-Bash! There were extra characters, and a dance party helped the kids to burn off some energy. Because of COVID-19, Donald’s Dino-Bash! was placed on hold, and it hasn’t yet reopened. Some of the characters are seen floating down the Discovery River, but they can be seen throughout the Park, not just in DinoLand.

Primeval Whirl was once part of the land, but the ride is gone. Literally gone. There are walls where it used to be, leaving a large part of DinoLand U.S.A. with nothing there.
In the past few years at Walt Disney World we’ve seen New Fantasyland, Pandora, Toy Story Land, and Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge. EPCOT is under transformation as well. DinoLand U.S.A. is screaming for a makeover right now, but there hasn’t been any word from Disney.
It’s fun to think about what DinoLand U.S.A. could transform into. One rumor that has been floating around for a while is that it could turn into an Indiana Jones themed land. This idea has some merit. DINOSAUR has a similar track to Indiana Jones Adventure at Disneyland, so all that would be needed is the new background, the track would stay the same.

The Boneyard would fit right in with an Indiana Jones theme. After all, Dr. Jones is an archaeologist. The carnival games could also be rethemed to be part of a marketplace.
That leaves TriceraTop Spin. The ride could be removed, or it could be rethemed to an airplane ride. Jock Lindsey and Reggie could discover a second home, outside of Disney Springs.
We don’t know if there are any plans to update or retheme DinoLand U.S.A. What we do know is that the land needs something. Right now, it’s a bit of an eyesore.
