Photos You Will Want to Take Each Disney World Trip

The Tree of Life glows at dusk, its trunk carved with animals and surrounded by rocks in Disney’s Animal Kingdom.

Walt Disney World is iconic and picturesque, but what are those Disney photos you won’t want to miss during your Disney World vacation? You can snap these Disney photos on your own or use an outstanding PhotoPass photographer around Walt Disney World. We have a list of a few photos you will want to make sure you take during your Disney vacation to capture the magic of the trip.

Park Icons

This one seems logical, but we want to make sure to bring it up. Don’t forget to snap pictures in front of all the icons at the four Theme Parks. This is where you will be able to get your Disney PhotoPass photos most of the day. Most of us remember to get pictures, and lots of them, in front of Cinderella Castle in Magic Kingdom, but do we take time in the other Theme Parks? In Animal Kingdom, make sure to get photos of the Tree of Life and Expedition Everest. Over in EPCOT, get those classic pictures in front of Spaceship Earth. Finally, in Hollywood Studios you can get your picture in front of the Hollywood Tower Hotel (Tower of Terror) and the Chinese Theatre. Think about taking pictures in front of these icons during the day and in the evenings as they take on a whole new level of magic at night. It can truly light up your pictures if you can time it with the new Beacons of Magic. Another great tip for photos of the Theme Park icons is to consider taking them from different sections of the Park. Get pictures taken of the castle from the bridge to Tomorrowland or even behind the castle in Fantasyland. Walk around the Tree of Life to find different, unique angles. There are so many outstanding photo opportunities for these classic icons that you can capture the magic.

World Showcase

The World Showcase in EPCOT has 11 beautifully designed countries that are perfect locations for pictures. Each country has a unique design and brings that country’s culture to the Theme Park. Take time to capture these special areas, such as the Aztec Pyramid in the Mexico Pavilion, or have fun taking pictures in the phone booths in the UK pavilion. We find the Eiffel Tower in France as well as the Chinese Temple of Heaven beautiful picture opportunities. We also recommend exploring the pavilions as there are amazing photo spots hidden throughout. The Morocco, France, Japan, UK, and Canada pavilions have beautiful architecture and gardens that make for fantastic photo options. So many of us walk past these countries or focus on the food booths but take some time to explore and capture the beauty they offer.

Food

Speaking of food, it wouldn’t be a Disney vacation if you didn’t capture some food pictures. Disney has taken to the Instagram world and has created some snacks that are works of art. Take time to catch these before diving in. It is also fun to take pictures with those classic Mickey shaped treats in front of the icons of the Parks. It might seem silly, but we know you won’t be the only one doing it. Throughout Walt Disney World Resort you will be able to find numerous photo worthy treats.

Magic Kingdom’s entrance pops with orange and yellow banners, the American flag flying high—your magical adventure starts immediately!.

Train Station

Another iconic part of Magic Kingdom is the train station. Although it isn’t running, this is still a must get picture for a Disney vacation. Walt Disney loved trains, and the Walt Disney World Railroad continues to welcome Guests to Magic Kingdom. The beautifully landscaped garden in front, along with the newly updated train station, makes for a great family photo. If you want to avoid crowds, grab this photo early in the morning.

Mickey Mouse

A Disney trip wouldn’t be complete without a picture of Mickey Mouse. We are thrilled that Mickey is once again greeting Guests at Tony’s Town Square Theatre in Magic Kingdom. Although this meet and greet are modified (no hugs), we are thrilled that we can once again say hello and thank you to Mickey. Make sure you schedule time in your trip to stop by and take a selfie with Mickey Mouse. It is a must get photo for a Disney vacation.

Lesser Known Icons

There are so many hidden gems throughout the four Theme Parks that you will want to seek them out for some fun pictures. In Magic Kingdom, we love taking pictures with both the Wishing Well and Cinderella Fountain around the castle. These are both gorgeous and hidden features of the Park that not many Guests slow down and take photos with. Over in Disney’s Hollywood Studios, we enjoy having fun in Andy’s backyard by taking photos with Buzz, Woody, and Jessie, and Rex in Slinky Dog Dash. These are fun larger than life icons in Toy Story Land. Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge has so many small, amazing details to take photos of, but there is one big one you won’t want to miss. Make sure you stop and get photos with the Millennium Falcon. It is outstanding how Disney has brought this ship into the Park. We love finding these hidden gems throughout the Parks that mean something to us, so keep your eyes open so you can do the same.

Classic Attractions

Finally, make sure to snap some pictures with some of the classic Disney attractions. We enjoy having pictures of Peter Pan’s Flight, Prince Charming Regal Carousel, Dumbo the Flying Elephant and it’s a Small World. We think of these attractions when we think of Walt Disney World, and we love having pictures of them. Take pictures outside the Haunted Mansion or in front of the guitar at Rock n’ Roller Coaster in Disney’s Hollywood Studios. These are all fun to look back on when you are home. Don’t forget, if you have your magic band on and have purchased the Disney Memory Maker, you can also get super fun ride photos.

We hope this list of photos to take on your Disney vacation will help you capture those magical memories during your next visit. Do you have pictures you always take?

About Jennifer Retzlaff

My name is Jennifer Retzlaff and I became a lifelong Disney fan during my first trip to Walt Disney World in 6th grade. From that moment, Disney became a big part of my life. I live in Iowa with my husband and two kids who are growing up too quickly for my liking. I started introducing my love for Disney early to my family with a Disney honeymoon and then trips when our youngest of 18 months. Since then, our family has been to Walt Disney World over five times and we continue to plan and dream for the next trip. I love the magic that Disney brings to people through the theme parks, cruises, adventures and movies they create. As a teacher, I try to bring that magic into my classroom to help kids believe that “If You Can Dream It, You Can Do It.” I recently reached a dream of mine as I joined Magic Vacation Planner as a personal travel advisor. With this team, I can now help others plan magical vacations. As a passionate writer, I also have my own blog at magicalvacationsbyjen which is also where you can follow me on instagram for trip reviews along with tips and tricks for your next magical vacation.
