The Anaheim Convention Center was buzzing with electric energy during D23 2026, but Pixar Animation Studios undoubtedly stole the spotlight. For fans who have been anxiously awaiting updates on their favorite animated universes—and craving fresh, original stories—this year’s ultimate Disney fan event delivered in a major way. With massive reveals for Incredibles 3, Coco 2, and a brand-new original film titled Ghost Market, Pixar is setting the stage for a dominant run at the box office over the next few years.
The Parr Kids Go Rogue in ‘Incredibles 3’
Pixar officially announced that Incredibles 3 will fly into theaters on June 16, 2028. While series creator Brad Bird returns to write and produce, he is passing the directorial baton to Peter Sohn. To preserve the characters’ universal family dynamics, their ages will remain strictly frozen, meaning there is no time jump.

However, the kids are finally taking center stage. Dash and Violet have been sneaking out of the house at night to fight crime, desperate to prove to Bob and Helen that they are capable, “real” Supers. Unfortunately, their parents simply aren’t buying it. This generational tension arrives at the worst possible time, as the family will face off against a mysterious new supervillain. This new foe is vastly more powerful than the entire Parr family and all the other Supers combined, raising the stakes to unprecedented heights.
A Vengeful Return in ‘Coco 2’
Fans of Pixar’s 2017 musical masterpiece will need to pack some patience, as Coco 2 is slated for a November 21, 2029, theatrical release. The sequel returns to the colorful Land of the Dead with the original visionary team of Lee Unkrich and Adrian Molina at the helm.
The storyline, however, takes a much darker and more personal turn. The film features a time jump, following Miguel as he navigates life as a teenager. But the afterlife won’t be a peaceful reunion: Ernesto de la Cruz is back. The treacherous, narcissistic antagonist has returned to the Land of the Dead seeking ultimate revenge against teenage Miguel for exposing his crimes and destroying his legacy.
Entering the ‘Ghost Market’
While massive sequels dominated the headlines, Pixar also unveiled a brand-new original animated feature titled Ghost Market. Directed by Trevor Jimenez, the film will hit theaters on March 10, 2028.
Heavily inspired by Asian mythology, the movie focuses on supernatural bazaars where the realms of the living and the dead seamlessly interact. Interestingly, this visually ambitious project was initially developed as a Disney+ series before studio executives recognized its cinematic potential and retooled it into a full theatrical feature.
Between the launch of Ghost Market and Incredibles 3 in 2028, followed by Coco 2 in 2029, Pixar is doubling down on its commitment to pushing boundaries while honoring its beloved classics.
