Disney Implements Updates to Lightning Lane After Two-Year Controversy

Walt Disney World Resort is a popular tourist location, and thousands of guests visit it daily. With so much to see, do, and experience, guests are eager to make the most of every precious moment.

Guests heading to the parks hoping to beat the crowds can purchase Disney Genie+. Disney Genie+ allows guests to navigate the parks, minimize wait times, and optimize their itinerary. By using Lightning Lane reservations, guests can breeze through queues and embark on a whirlwind adventure through the world-class attractions that define Disney magic.

Newer attractions such as TRON Lightcycle / RUN and Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind only allow guests to either join a virtual queue or purchase a Lighting Lane to experience the attraction.

EPCOT has been making big changes and the next big change coming is that CommuniCore Hall is set to open on June 10, 2024, finally. This location will showcase a summer sing-along spectacle titled “¡Celebración Encanto!” inspired by the film Encanto (2021) alongside meet-and-greets with Mickey & Friends.

Mickey and Minnie Mouse are there to greet guests at EPCOT, hanging out in the Disney and Pixar Short Film Festival area. Thankfully, the wait times are usually pretty short, and there’s only a standby queue to worry about.

Over at CommuniCore Hall, they’ve recently put up some Lightning Lane signs, hinting at something new on the horizon. Even though Disney hasn’t officially spilled the beans on their website yet, it seems like Disney is gearing up to announce something exciting real soon. This has been a project years in the making.

Guests are unsure whether or not to purchase Disney Genie+, and the benefits may outweigh the negatives. One main reason is that Disney Genie+ helps to save guests valuable time. Guests can minimize wait times and ensure a more efficient park experience by strategically planning attraction selections and Lightning Lane reservations. This time-saving feature enables guests to explore more attractions, shows, and dining options without feeling constrained by long queues.

Disney World guests who choose not to purchase Disney Genie+ will be able to join regular stand-by lines but may experience longer waits.
