Reflections – A Walt Disney World Lakeside Lodge: What We Know So Far

Reflections: Disney Art Rendering

We can’t imagine not staying on property when visiting Walt Disney World.  Disney is making it even more difficult to select a resort given how many amazing resorts are located right on property.  Recently, it was announced that another new resort would join the family, Reflections – A Disney Lakeside Lodge. Here is what we know about this newest Disney resort so far:

8. It is a Disney Vacation Club Property.

We do know already that it will be called Reflections – A Disney Lakeside Lodge and will be a Disney Vacation Club Resort.  This resort will be the newest Disney Vacation Club property and the 16th

7. It will have a lot of new rooms and villas.

The resort will feature 900 resort rooms and around 800 Disney Vacation Club Villas. The rooms are expected to include different sizes and types.  We don’t know yet if there will be a new room type introduced like Disney did when they created Disney’s Riviera Resort, which opens soon.

6. The lobby will be beautiful.

Disney did already release concept art that gave us a look at what we can expect for the lobby of the new resort.  This art shows a space that has a lot of windows and wood elements to bring out the light, natural vibe for the location.  It looks like a very creative space with natural light and completely inspired by nature and natural elements.

5. The theme.

We already talked about some of the design elements for the lobby.  These nature-inspired elements and natural setting appear to be the overall theme and will carry throughout the entire resort.  Disney is known for their level of detail in the theme down to the smallest elements and details, so we would expect to see this theme respected throughout every aspect of the resort.

4. Project designers.

The project designers for the effort will be Wimberly, Allison, Tong & Goo.  They are also the designers for other resorts at Walt Disney World like Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa.  They have done impeccable work at Walt Disney World, so we expect that they will do a fantastic job with their newest Disney endeavor.

3. Of course there will be dining locations.

We know without a doubt that there will be dining options at the new resort.  Disney has dining options located within each of their resorts so that guests have options quickly accessible as well as various levels of dining experiences. We do know that the resort is expected to offer a table service restaurant that will be on along Bay Lake.  This will give guests a beautiful waterfront dining opportunity. The restaurant is also expected to be themed after Princess and the Frog.  There will be a quick service dining option, too!

2. The location.

We love the location for this new resort, given the proximity to other areas within Walt Disney World.  This new resort is being built in the site where Disney’s River Country used to be.  Disney’s River Country was the first water park that was opened at Walt Disney World.  This puts the location between Disney’s Wilderness Lodge and Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort.  This means that when guests are staying at any of these resort locations they can easily access each other, likely still by boat.  The new resort will also be extremely close to Magic Kingdom Park.  We would expect that there would also be boat transportation to get there.

1. 2022 is the current expected opening.

Unfortunately the resort still has a while to go before it will be ready to greet the first guests.  Reflections – A Disney Lakeside Lodge isn’t expected to open until sometime in 2022.  We are sure that as we get closer, Disney will start nailing down an expected time of the year that the opening will be slated for. We know it will be hard to wait, but hopefully we get to keep learning more and more about the resort as the development and construction takes place in the coming months.

About Christy Caby

I am a diehard Disney fanatic! I fell in love with all things Disney from an early age and that only increased once I first visited Walt Disney World! It led me to complete a yearlong Disney College Program working at merchandise locations within Disney’s Hollywood Studios (Disney-MGM Studios at that time) and I worked for Disney Parks & Resorts Technology in Project/Program Management. Now I get to write about Disney and help others plan their magical vacations! Disney holds a special place in the hearts of my entire family as my husband proposed there, we honeymooned there, took trips while pregnant with each of my boys and have visited with them many, many times from 8 weeks old through now. One of my favorite memories from each trip is always the look on my kids’ faces the first time they see the castle. I’d love to help you plan your magical vacation!
