The Walt Disney World Resort has cut certain pieces of merchandise from the Tower of Terror gift shop at its Hollywood Studios theme park. WDWNT reports that most of the third-party merchandise sold at the gift shop has now been removed, only a few weeks after it originally debuted.

Earlier this month, guests noticed that the Tower of Terror gift shop located near the attraction’s exit had been filled with third-party merchandise. The new, unofficial items mostly consisted of T-shirts, but a few other items, like a baseball cap, could also be purchased.

Third-party merchandise is nothing new for the Disney parks. Other gift shops, such as the one located at the exit of Expedition Everest and Pirates of the Caribbean, feature unofficial souvenirs not associated with Disney.

What made the new Tower of Terror items so strange this time around was that the shirts and other clothing options directly referenced the ride itself, something most unofficial merchandise avoids.

However, things seem to be back to normal, with only a few unofficial items available for purchase at the Tower of Terror gift shop. According to a cast member working at the shop, the unofficial items are sold out, though it’s possible Disney decided to pull them from the shop altogether.

Guests will have to keep their eyes peeled in the coming weeks to see if any more unofficial third-party merchandise is added to this gift shop or others around the Walt Disney World Resort.

This incident follows Disney’s semi-recent decision to remove officially licensed The Twilight Zone merchandise from the store due to the fees it would have to pay CBS.

The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror is perhaps one of the most popular and iconic attractions at Walt Disney World. The drop tower ride recently celebrated its 30th anniversary, a massive milestone for an equally massive experience.

The Tower of Terror has continued to be a core part of the Walt Disney World experience and remains one of the most popular and crowded rides at the resort. With so many changes taking place at Walt Disney World, it’s easy to wonder what the future holds for the iconic attraction.

Disney confirmed just a few weeks ago that Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster would be shutting down in the coming years to make way for an exciting new Muppets-themed experience. Mostly, everything about the coaster will remain the same, but Steven Tyler and the rest of Aerosmith will be getting the boot.

Other changes are happening all across the resort, with multiple rides and attractions set to close at Magic Kingdom and Disney’s Animal Kingdom over the next several years.

For now, The Tower of Terror appears to be as safe as ever, though, in the current age of Disney theme parks, nothing truly seems to be off the table.

When at Disney world, Luke will probably be found eating with his favorite animatronic, Sonny Eclipse at Cosmic Ray's Starlight Cafe. When not at Disney World, Luke will probably be found defending Cosmic Ray's Starlight Cafe to people who claim "there are better restaurants"
