Shrek 4D at Universal Studios Closing Permanently in 2022

If you are a fan of Shrek 4D at Universal Studios, you only have until January 10th, 2022, to ride it one last time. Multiple sources have reported that Shrek 4D will be closing. This is what Channel 6 News reported:

“ORLANDO, Fla. – Universal Orlando confirmed Wednesday that the Shrek 4D family attraction and its gift shop will be closing Jan. 10, 2022.

The attraction first opened at Universal Studios in 2003 and transports guests into the popular films.

The ride follows Shrek, Donkey and Princess Fiona as Lord Farquaad’s ghost tries to capture her immediately following the events of the first film. Guests grab OgreVision (3D) glasses for an epic adventure.

The Shrek franchise and its characters have been featured across Universal Orlando in things such as holiday events, nighttime spectaculars and recently the new character show, DreamWorks Destination.

Universal has not said what will replace Shrek 4D but said guests should look for updates on its website.”

This ride opened on June 12, 2003, and cost 35 million dollars to build. Although many Guests enjoyed this attraction, some people would say this was one to skip, so visitors will probably be torn on this announcement. There is no word yet of what will be replacing it.

So many of the festivities had to be cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic but we are happy that things are starting to be happen again.  The past year and a half has been difficult for everyone, and getting back out and enjoying time with friends and family is important.
