Twilight Zone Tower of Terror Billboard at Walt Disney World to Be Demolished

Tower of Terror Billboard

One of the most memorable sites for any Guest driving onto Walt Disney World property is the iconic Twilight Zone Tower of Terror billboard. The massive structure not only advertises one of Disney World’s most popular thrill rides, but it also showcased a moving elevator inspired by the attraction.

The billboard has been one of the first things Guests arriving at the Walt Disney World Resort have seen for a number of years, and many fans have a certain sense of nostalgia for it.

Unfortunately, it seems that Disney is preparing to begin work on removing the iconic billboard, with no news of a replacement in sight.

Theme park journalist Scott Gustin shared confirmation on Twitter this afternoon that the billboard is indeed scheduled to come down, following rumors about the possible upcoming demolition:

The billboard was even in place prior to the name change of Disney’s Hollywood Studios, so if you have been visiting Walt Disney World long enough, you may even have some old vacation photos of the billboard advertising the attraction at Disney-MGM Studios.

While the billboard is coming down, no work is scheduled to take place on the classic Walt Disney World thrill ride. At the Disneyland Resort, the Twilight Zone Tower of Terror attraction was re-themed to Guardians of the Galaxy: Mission BREAKOUT! in 2017, much to the shock of many fans, but there are no plans in place to change or replace the attraction at Walt Disney World.

Other iconic billboards line the stretch of road just after Guests enter Walt Disney World property, however, at this time only the Tower of Terror one is scheduled to be taken down.

We will continue to watch the state of the Tower of Terror billboard and other updates from around Walt Disney World to share as we have them here on DisneyTips.
