Walt Disney World just rolled out some new menu items at a couple of fan-favorite restaurants, and we are well ready to make our next dinner reservations!

Both 50’s Prime Time Cafe and the Sci-Fi Dine-In Theater at Disney’s Hollywood Studios have been popular restaurants for Guests looking for a casual table service experience with a fun theme for years. Some of the menu items at these restaurants, like the milkshakes in both locations and the fried chicken at 50’s Prime Time Cafe have had massive followings, so fans of the two dining locations will be interested to see the newest items on the menu!

Sci-Fi Dine-In Theater Restaurant has always served classic theme park staples in an immersive space themed to a retro drive-in movie theater. While the restaurant has only grown in popularity, and the food was always tasty, the hype for this location was always the theming.

The Disney Parks Blog just announced that a new menu will be rolling out at Sci-Fi Dine-In beginning on June 2, 2022, and by the looks of it the food could soon live up to the same hype as the fun of sitting in vintage cars for dinner.

Among the new menu items are smoked chicken wings served with barbecue sauce and a house-made pineapple and poppy seed coleslaw, as well as a plant-based spinach and artichoke dip.

Sci-Fi’s salads have been updated to include a Black Garlic Caeser Salad with “petite romaine, grilled hearts of artichoke, chopped Applewood smoked bacon, shaved parmesan covered with house-made black garlic Caesar dressing and served with a tasty, toasted crostini.”

And the Grilled Chicken Citrus Salad will debut on June 2 as well, with a refreshing combination of romaine lettuce, spinach, and arugula topped off with rainbow tomatoes, candied pecans, cranberries, and feta cheese with a house-made citrus vinaigrette and grilled marinated chicken.

Burgers have always been a major component of the Sci-Fi Dine-In menu, and the new updates continue this tasty tradition with the Feature Film Burger – Surf & Turf, a house-made beef blended burger topped with shrimp and a crab cake, pepper jack cheese, chipotle hollandaise sauce, grilled onions, heirloom tomato, arugula, and house-made vinaigrette.

The Pork on Pork Burger, which was offered seasonally and often a hit with Guests has now earned a permanent space on the updated menu. This burger features a pork patty topped with roasted pork belly, perfect for the BBQ lover in your family as its white sharp cheddar cheese is complemented by caramelized onions, slaw, and Carolina mustard sauce.

For dessert, the new menu includes The Red Planet, a white chocolate cheesecake with blueberry compote on a graham cracker tart, made even more unique with a green tea matcha sponge and candied pecans. And, the Out-of-this-World Sci-Fi Swirl is made with “pineapple mousse with passion fruit cosmic swirl and a spiced lime spaceship garnished with space dust and blood orange coulis.”

New menu items are being added to the current menu at 50’s Prime Time Cafe beginning June 7, 2022, with some modern takes on classic comfort food we can’t wait to try.

Updated appetizers include Jalapeño Popper Deviled Eggs, a spicy twist on a very popular vintage hors d’oeuvre. And an especially welcome addition during winter trips to Walt Disney World, a warm order of Creamy Tomato Soup can be a great way to start your meal.

A past favorite menu item that has gone in and out of 50’s Prime Time Cafe is now back on the menu, Grandpa Jean’s Chicken Pot Pie! It’s packed with chicken, potatoes, carrots, celery, onions, corn, and peas all within a traditional pastry crust.

The dessert menu has received some sweet updates, too. Just be sure to eat your vegetables if you hope to give them a try! New for desserts is the Pineapple Upside Down Cake, a yellow cake soaked in pineapple juice with caramelized pineapples and maraschino cherries plus whipped cream and caramel sauce.

A Lemon Meringue Pie is also on the menu at 50’s Prime Time Cafe with “lemon curd in a flaky pie shell topped with a toasted meringue and garnished with a raspberry sauce.” Other new desserts include the Grasshopper bar made with mint chocolate mousse and chocolate chips piled onto a chocolate chip cookie and topped off with even more chocolate chips and whipped cream, as well as the Stained Glass dessert which uses cubes of gelatin to create the look of stained glass.
