Walt Disney World Resort is the largest theme park in the world, encompassing approximately 43 square miles, and nearly as big as the city of San Francisco. The enormous resort consists of four theme parks — Magic Kingdom, Animal Kingdom, EPCOT, and Disney’s Hollywood Studios. There are also two water parks — Typhoon Lagoon and Blizzard Beach –, more than 25 resort hotels, and the massive shopping and dining area, Disney Springs.
While many people tend to think about the four theme parks over the two water parks, Disney’s Typhoon Lagoon and Blizzard Beach are still incredibly popular. In fact, according to reports, they are the second and third most-visited water parks in the entire world.
However, they are rarely open at the same time.

Many guests who visit Disney World on a semi-regular basis know that, typically, one water park is closed and being refurbished while the other is open. Then, they swap. And that swap has recently happened again.
Beginning November 5, Disney closed its Typhoon Lagoon Water Park. On November 6, Blizzard Beach — which has been closed for months — will reopen once again.
Disney has not shared when the beloved water park will reopen.
Blizzard Beach – A Cool Place to Spend a Hot Day
Blizzard Beach has nearly a dozen attractions for both adults and children. Those who are considered thrill seekers will love attractions like Summit Plummet, Slush Gusher, and Downhill Double Dipper. Guests who want to relax are encouraged to enjoy Blizzard Beach’s Cross Country Creek or Melt Away Bay.
Of course, Disney is for families, and there are attractions that families will love to enjoy. Families can ride together on Teamboat Springs or race each other on Toboggan Racers. Those younger guests are able to enjoy Blizzard Beach as much as adults over at Tike’s Peak.
Blizzard Beach is also so much more than a water park. Walt Disney World Resort is known for its delicious dining options, and the incredible water park is no exception.
There are nearly one dozen places for guests to dine and enjoy a cocktail while in the park.

Over at the Warming Hut, guests can enjoy both warm and hot dishes like Garlic-Parmesan Chicken Wings, a Shrimp Caesar Salad, and Loaded Nachos made with Walt’s Chili. Then, there are the desserts, including a Brownie Sundae and a DOLE Whip served in a waffle cone! These amazing options will be the perfect addition to your fun-filled day!

Guests 21 and over can head to places like Polar Pub to enjoy some refreshing cocktails. There are scrumptious frozen options like Strawberry Daiquiris and the Piña CoLAVA. Then there are non-frozen options, including a Grapefruit Margarita, a Rummer Runner, and the Banana Cabana. Of course, there are also several beer and wine options for those who want something more traditional.
If you and your family will be making a trip to Blizzard Beach a part of your next Walt Disney World vacation, one of the exciting things to know is that reservations are NOT required to visit the water park! Reservations are still required to visit the Magic Kingdom, Animal Kingdom, EPCOT, and Hollywood Studios.
