After 36 Years, Universal Sets Final Weekend for Opening Day Attraction
The final weekend has arrived for a 1990 Universal Orlando Resort experience. It will be closing its doors forever in just a few days! Last call before the final curtain call! (Kind of).

Universal Orlando Permanently Shutting Down 36-Year-Old Attraction
The curtain is coming down on a piece of Universal Orlando Resort history, and the final countdown has officially begun.
After more than three decades entertaining visitors, Animal Actors on Location! at Universal Studios Florida is entering its final weekend. The opening-day attraction will deliver its last scheduled performances on Monday, November 2, 2026, before permanently closing beginning Tuesday, November 3.
For guests hoping to experience the show one final time, the opportunity is rapidly disappearing. And the significance of this particular goodbye stretches far beyond the familiar amphitheater.

Universal Orlando’s 36-Year-Old Attraction Reaches Its Final Weekend
Universal Orlando has confirmed that Animal Actors on Location! will permanently close on November 3 to make way for a new experience. The attraction’s final scheduled operating day is November 2.
That leaves visitors with just days to experience one of Universal Studios Florida’s original entertainment concepts.
Unlike Universal’s high-speed roller coasters and elaborate simulator attractions, Animal Actors offers a different kind of entertainment. Its approximately 20-minute production features trained dogs, cats, birds, and other animals demonstrating behaviors associated with television and movie productions.
The experience combines live performances, comedic segments, and audience participation, giving visitors an opportunity to see animal training presented as entertainment.
For families, it also provides something increasingly valuable during a busy theme park visit: a covered theater where guests can enjoy a performance without boarding a ride.
Soon, that particular experience will disappear from the park’s entertainment lineup.

Another Piece of Universal Studios Florida’s Opening-Day History Disappears
The significance of Animal Actors extends back to June 7, 1990, when Universal Studios Florida first welcomed visitors.
Originally introduced as Animal Actors Stage, the production was among the park’s opening-day offerings. It subsequently evolved into Animal Planet Live before adopting its current Animal Actors on Location! identity.
Although its presentation changed, the central concept remained recognizable: bringing the world of trained animal performers into a theme park setting.
Its impending closure marks the end of that 36-year tradition at Universal Studios Florida.
The development also follows another major departure from the resort’s lineup. Fast & Furious – Supercharged permanently closed in August 2026, continuing a period of changes affecting established Universal experiences.
Animal Actors represents a different kind of loss, however. Rather than replacing a conventional ride, Universal is retiring a live entertainment concept whose roots stretch directly to the park’s earliest days.

Universal’s Animal Actors Tradition Has Already Disappeared From Hollywood
The Orlando closure also recalls the fate of another longtime Universal attraction.
At Universal Studios Hollywood, the park’s own Animal Actors production closed in January 2023. The Hollywood attraction was among the experiences removed as Universal prepared the site for Fast & Furious: Hollywood Drift.
That earlier departure left Orlando carrying forward a recognizable version of Universal’s classic animal-performance tradition.
The connection is especially significant because both attractions reflected an older approach to studio-themed entertainment: demonstrating how animal performers contribute to film and television productions.
Where modern Universal attractions increasingly emphasize immersive fictional environments, the Animal Actors concept drew its identity from the filmmaking process itself.
With Orlando now approaching its final performance, another surviving connection to that studio-tour heritage is disappearing. The documented closures in Hollywood and Orlando nevertheless mark the end of two longstanding versions of the concept.

What Happens to Animal Actors After November 2?
Universal has already identified the broad reason for the closure: the venue will make way for a new experience.
What that experience will be remains unanswered.
The company has not publicly identified a replacement attraction, announced a new entertainment concept, or provided an opening date for whatever comes next.
That uncertainty leaves several possibilities open, but none should be mistaken for a confirmed development.
For now, visitors can still experience the current production through its final scheduled operating day, subject to daily show availability.
Guests planning a farewell visit should consult Universal Orlando’s official entertainment schedule before arriving. A final operating date does not guarantee that a performance will be offered at every desired time.
The November 3 closure also does not mean Universal Studios Florida itself is closing. It applies specifically to Animal Actors on Location!.

Universal Orlando Faces Another Goodbye as Its Original Park Evolves
For longtime Universal visitors, Animal Actors represents more than an individual stage production.
It reflects an era when Universal Studios Florida leaned heavily into the mechanics of movie production, offering guests a look at entertainment techniques normally associated with working studios.
That concept has remained part of the park’s identity even as its attractions, themed lands, and entertainment offerings have evolved.
Now, one of its oldest surviving examples is preparing to take its final bow.
The timing gives visitors a particularly narrow opportunity. Saturday, October 31, and Sunday, November 1, mark the attraction’s final weekend, while Monday, November 2, is scheduled to bring the last performances.
Beginning Tuesday, November 3, Animal Actors on Location! will no longer be available.
Universal has promised a new experience for the location, although its identity and debut remain unknown.
Until those plans are revealed, the immediate milestone is unmistakable: after 36 years, one of Universal Studios Florida’s original entertainment traditions is reaching its end.
