Another part of Jurassic Park has officially gone behind walls at Universal Islands of Adventure, and this closure isn’t going to be a quick one.
Universal Orlando Resort has now closed the Jurassic Park restrooms for a major refurbishment. While restroom closures normally wouldn’t generate much attention, this one could have a noticeable impact on guests moving through one of the park’s busiest areas.
That’s especially true because Universal isn’t talking about a refurbishment lasting a few days or even several weeks.

Meanwhile, another major closure continues nearby. Jurassic Park River Adventure remains unavailable after beginning an extensive refurbishment earlier this year.
For guests visiting Islands of Adventure this fall, that means Jurassic Park will continue looking a little different for quite some time.
Jurassic Park Restrooms Officially Close for Major Refurbishment
Universal has officially closed the Jurassic Park restrooms for refurbishment, beginning what could become a closure lasting several months.
The company currently lists the restrooms as remaining unavailable until early 2027.
That’s a surprisingly lengthy refurbishment period for a restroom facility, particularly considering its location.
Jurassic Park sits between Toon Lagoon, Skull Island, and The Wizarding World of Harry Potter – Hogsmeade, placing it along one of the primary pathways guests use while making their way around Islands of Adventure.
It’s also home to Jurassic World VelociCoaster, one of Universal Orlando’s most popular attractions.
Between guests heading toward VelociCoaster, families exploring Camp Jurassic, visitors stopping for food and those simply walking between lands, plenty of people move through this section of the park throughout the day.
Removing a conveniently located restroom for several months means those guests will need to plan a little differently.
Fortunately, there are alternatives nearby.
Where Can Guests Find the Closest Restrooms?
Guests who need a restroom while visiting Jurassic Park aren’t completely out of luck.
The closest available option is near Pizza Predattoria.
That will likely become the primary alternative for guests spending time in Jurassic Park while the regular facilities undergo refurbishment.
Other options are available elsewhere around Islands of Adventure, though they require a longer walk.
Guests can find additional restrooms in Toon Lagoon, The Lost Continent and The Wizarding World of Harry Potter – Hogsmeade, as the closest secondary locations.
For most visitors, this will simply mean walking a little farther than usual. Families with young children or guests who need quick restroom access, however, may want to remember the closure before getting deep into Jurassic Park.
And restrooms aren’t the only thing currently unavailable in the land.
Jurassic Park River Adventure Remains Closed
Jurassic Park River Adventure closed on January 5, 2026, beginning an unusually lengthy refurbishment for the classic water ride.
As things currently stand, Universal is scheduled to reopen Jurassic Park River Adventure on November 20, 2026.
That means the attraction will have been unavailable for more than 10 months by the time guests are expected to climb aboard again.
Jurassic Park River Adventure has been part of Islands of Adventure since the park opened in 1999. The attraction takes guests on what begins as a relatively peaceful journey through Jurassic Park before things inevitably go wrong.
After encountering escaped dinosaurs, riders eventually come face-to-face with a Tyrannosaurus rex before plunging down the attraction’s signature drop.
The ride remains one of the defining attractions inside Jurassic Park, making such a lengthy refurbishment particularly noticeable.
Universal has not announced a permanent closure for Jurassic Park River Adventure. Instead, the attraction remains scheduled to return following its extensive refurbishment.
Assuming the current schedule holds, guests visiting during the Thanksgiving and Christmas seasons should once again have an opportunity to experience the attraction.
Jurassic Park Has Several Changes Happening at Once
These closures arrive during an interesting period for Islands of Adventure.
Jurassic Park remains one of the park’s most recognizable areas, but guests visiting right now will encounter multiple refurbishment projects rather than the fully operating land they may remember.
Jurassic Park River Adventure has been closed since January, and now the land’s restroom facility has joined the refurbishment list.
The difference is that the restroom project will stretch beyond the expected reopening of River Adventure.
If Jurassic Park River Adventure returns as scheduled on November 20, guests should have the attraction back for the busy holiday period. The Jurassic Park restrooms, however, are expected to remain unavailable into early 2027.
That could create an unusual situation where the land’s major attractions are operating again while guests still need to walk elsewhere for certain facilities.
For most visitors, this won’t dramatically change an Islands of Adventure vacation. Still, it’s something worth knowing before arriving.
Universal Continues Investing in Islands of Adventure
Extended refurbishments aren’t necessarily exciting for guests who happen to visit while attractions and facilities are unavailable, but they’re an important part of operating a theme park year after year.
Islands of Adventure opened in 1999, meaning many parts of the park have now been operating for more than 27 years.
Attractions, buildings, restaurants, restrooms and other facilities require maintenance as they age. Florida’s weather doesn’t make that job any easier.
Jurassic Park River Adventure presents an especially complicated maintenance challenge because of its size, water systems, ride vehicles, animatronics and outdoor environments.
A refurbishment lasting from January into November is significant, but it also gives Universal considerably more time than a routine annual refurbishment would provide.
The restroom closure appears to be another substantial project based simply on its expected duration.
Universal hasn’t provided extensive details about exactly what work will take place inside the facility. Still, keeping the restrooms closed until early 2027 indicates this isn’t simply a short cleaning or cosmetic touch-up.
What Guests Should Know Before Visiting
If you’re heading to Islands of Adventure over the next several months, there are two dates worth remembering.

It’s a relatively small operational change compared with losing a major attraction, but anyone traveling with toddlers or young children knows that restroom location can suddenly become very important.
The good news is that Jurassic Park River Adventure’s lengthy absence appears to be approaching its end.
After being closed since January 5, the classic Islands of Adventure attraction is currently set to welcome guests back just before Thanksgiving. The restroom refurbishment will take longer, with that project stretching into 2027.
For now, Jurassic Park remains open and guests can still experience much of the land. They’ll just need to account for a couple of significant closures as Universal continues its refurbishment work.
