Guests Driving Into Florida for Disney World to Receive Financial Relief Thanks to Ron DeSantis

Walt Disney World guests driving into Florida and heading to the theme park can expect potential cost savings on toll fees along major toll roads such as Florida’s Turnpike, the Sawgrass Expressway, and select interstate express lanes. The Walt Disney Company has recently raised some prices at the Walt Disney Parks on everything from tickets to food. In a shocking turn of events, Gov Ron DeSantis has formed a somewhat DeSantis Disney partnership through this toll relief law coming to Florida. Will this new Florida legislature prevail?

Florida has renewed a discount program for frequent toll road users, offering a 50% reduction in toll fees for individuals who conduct at least 35 monthly toll transactions. This initiative, effective immediately, applies statewide, emphasizing benefiting commuters in regions like South Florida and Central Florida, where toll roads are most prevalent.

Guests should know that participating in the program requires using SunPass or another compatible transponder system. Utilizing toll-by-plate systems may not qualify for the discount, underscoring the importance of acquiring a transponder for eligible savings.

With the program funded by the state budget, guests driving into Florida can anticipate continued toll benefits for the upcoming year, potentially extending through March 2025. This initiative reflects the state’s commitment to easing financial burdens for frequent toll road users, including visitors traveling to attractions like Walt Disney World.

The funding for the toll reduction initiative stems from Florida’s robust state budget, buoyed by contributions from taxpayers within the state and nationwide. With an allocation of $450 million from the recently passed state budget, the program ensures toll benefits for frequent users for the upcoming year. While Governor DeSantis has yet to sign the budget into law, he affirmed the program’s immediate implementation, extending through March 2025.

According to the governor’s office, the preceding 2023 version of the program incurred costs of $500 million, benefiting over 1.2 million commuters.

Embracing this discount program allows Disney World guests to save on toll expenses incurred during their journey to and from the theme park. This financial relief contributes to a more economical trip and enhances the overall value of their Walt Disney World experience.

Moreover, the program’s statewide reach ensures that travelers driving into Florida from diverse regions can reap the benefits of toll savings. Regions with extensive toll road networks, such as South Florida and Central Florida, are particularly emphasized under this initiative. However, travelers must note that participation in the program necessitates using SunPass or an equivalent compatible transponder system, as toll-by-plate methods may not qualify for the discount.

By offering tangible financial benefits to frequent toll road users, the program aligns with the state’s objectives of enhancing accessibility and affordability for all travelers.

Since first stepping inside the Magic Kingdom at nine years old, I knew I was destined to be a theme Park enthusiast. Although I consider myself a theme Park junkie, I still have much to learn and discover about Disney. Universal Orlando Resort has my heart; being an Annual Passholder means visiting my favorite places on Earth when possible! When I’m not writing about Disney, Universal, or entertainment news, you’ll find me cruising on my motorcycle, hiking throughout my local metro parks, or spending quality time with my girlfriend, family, or friends.
