If you’re riding Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind at EPCOT on September 21, you don’t have to spend the entire queue wondering which song you’re going to get.
Disney has already made that decision for you.
For one day only, Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind is dropping its normal rotating soundtrack and playing just one song: “September” by Earth, Wind & Fire.
The attraction typically randomly selects from six different songs, meaning guests usually don’t know which soundtrack they will experience until their adventure begins. On this day, however, every trip through the attraction will feature the same song.
It has become something of a September 21 tradition at EPCOT, and Disney is bringing it back again in 2026.
However, guests visiting on September 21 are also noticing another change inside the attraction. A post shared from EPCOT this morning says the attraction is bypassing its preshow for this day.
That means the September 21 version of Cosmic Rewind could feel noticeably different before guests even reach the ride vehicles.
Only One Cosmic Rewind Song Is Playing on September 21
Part of the fun of Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind is never knowing exactly which version of the attraction you’re about to experience.

That randomness has helped make repeat rides particularly fun.
Someone could ride Cosmic Rewind in the morning, return later in the afternoon, and potentially get a completely different musical experience.
Some guests even make it their mission to experience all six songs.
Don’t expect to make any progress on that challenge on this day.
September 21 belongs entirely to Earth, Wind & Fire.
Disney is once again celebrating the date by having “September” play throughout the day. This marks the fourth straight year guests will hear only the Earth, Wind & Fire track on September 21.
And really, could Disney choose any other song for this date?
The song famously references the 21st night of September, making September 21 the perfect excuse to temporarily change the attraction’s normal soundtrack.
For guests who have ridden Cosmic Rewind repeatedly without ever getting “September,” this day removes all of the uncertainty.

Disney Is Also Reportedly Skipping the Preshow
The soundtrack isn’t the only thing guests are talking about on this day.

That could make Cosmic Rewind feel quite different for anyone who hasn’t ridden before.
Normally, guests experience an elaborate setup before boarding.
The attraction’s story begins before the coaster launches, with guests visiting the Wonders of Xandar pavilion before becoming caught up in an adventure involving the Guardians.
The preshow helps explain why guests are suddenly heading into space with the Guardians of the Galaxy in the first place.
Skipping that portion changes the pacing and gets riders closer to the loading area without the complete story setup they would normally experience.
For frequent Cosmic Rewind riders, that may not be a huge deal. Plenty of Disney World regulars already know the dialogue and story extremely well.
