Is this Disney World’s best decision of 2024?

The Walt Disney World Resort has endured significant changes throughout 2024, with plenty more on the horizon as guests enter 2025. Not only will multiple rides and attractions close next year, but several years-old projects and rumored overhauls will finally begin, making 2025 a year to remember for Disney fans.

In January, Disney will finally shut down part of DinoLand U.S.A. at Disney’s Animal Kingdom, a popular yet divisive part of the nature-inspired theme park. The park’s big “E-ticket” attraction, DINOSAUR, will remain open throughout the year as work begins on transforming DinoLand into a new South Americas-themed area.

At the Magic Kingdom, guests can expect Tom Sawyer Island and the Rivers of America to close, as well as certain parts of Frontierland, to make way for a new expansion inspired by Pixar’s Cars franchise.

The changes continue at Disney’s Hollywood Studios, where Disney will soon close Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster and MuppetVision*3D, two fan-favorite attractions, as the park begins its biggest transformation since the Street of America closed in 2016.

This is being done to make way for another new expansion inspired by a Pixar franchise, this time Monsters Inc.

However, with so much change happening at Walt Disney World next year, it can be easy to forget all the things the resort improved or tweaked in 2024, with perhaps the best alteration being found at EPCOT.

Disney Adds Single-Rider to Ratatouille

EPCOT is a very interesting theme park that features a wide assortment of rides, attractions, and experiences, most of which seek to entertain and educate guests. The park is split into four distinct sections, with World Showcase likely being the most popular among guests.

Here, guests can find rides and attractions like Frozen Ever After and Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure, both of which are super popular. However, Remy received a big change earlier this year, one that completely revolutionized how guests can experience it.

After years of waiting, Disney finally opened the single-rider line for Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure, allowing even more guests to enjoy the attraction.

Singe-rider lines are common at not just the Disney theme parks but most amusement parks around the world and are designed to accommodate guests riding by themselves. Oftentimes, these lines are faster as single riders can act as fill-ins for an odd number of gusts. For instance, Space Mountain at Disney World has room for six guests per train car, but if a family of five gets in line, there’s one seat that is empty.

Space Mountain does not have a single-rider line, but other rides like Expedition Everest and Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster do, and cast members are very helpful and accommodating if guests tell them they are riding by themselves.

The single-rider line at Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure made the attraction more accessible and cut down on some of the waiting, assuming guests are okay with riding by themselves. Twitter/X user FiBelleFi said this change was one of the best additions to the Walt Disney World Resort in 2024, and it’s hard not to agree.

As I begin to consider the best new additions to Walt Disney World in 2024, surely near the top of my list will be the single rider line at Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure. It is certainly nice to wait less than five minutes instead of 65 minutes.

Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure joined Walt Disney World in 2021, but Pixar’s iconic animated cooking film starring Remy the Rat has had its own ride since Ratatouille: L’Aventure Totalement Toquée de Rémy opened at the Disneyland Paris Resort in 2014.

The ride was essentially copied for Florida’s version, fitting nicely inside EPCOT’s World Showcase, an area of the park that focuses on other countries, cultures, and cuisines.

About Luke Dammann

When at Disney world, Luke will probably be found eating with his favorite animatronic, Sonny Eclipse at Cosmic Ray's Starlight Cafe. When not at Disney World, Luke will probably be found defending Cosmic Ray's Starlight Cafe to people who claim "there are better restaurants"
