We Finally Know When EPCOT’s Historic Transformation Will Be Complete

During its development, Walt Disney called EPCOT “an experimental prototype community that will always be in a state of becoming,” and decades later, those words still ring with truth throughout the Walt Disney Company.

EPCOT is currently going through a ‘historic transformation’ years in the making, but now we finally have an idea of when its transformation will be complete!

The Disney Park’s historic transformation was first announced in 2019 during the D23 Expo, and after everything that has happened since then, it’s understandable to feel as if it’s been way longer.

Since the first announcement of the four neighborhoods of EPCOT (World Showcase, World Discovery, World Celebration, and World Nature), so much has changed at the iconic theme Park.

Some of the most anticipated changes have already been made, albeit later than first indicated due to the pandemic. Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure debuted in October 2021 despite being scheduled for 2020. Now Guests can finally shrink down to Chef Remy’s size and scurry through Gusteau’s kitchen after much anticipation.

Guardians of the Galaxy Cosmic Rewind debuted in May 2022 despite being scheduled for 2021, giving Guests a whole new experience unlike any story coaster they’ve ever seen before.

Now, as we wait for the Walt Disney World Resort’s historic transformation to finish, it can start to feel as if the wait will never end. But the light at the end of the tunnel is closer than we even realized!

As seen in the photos, Walt Disney Imagineering is working hard to put the finishing touches on the World Celebration and World Nature neighborhoods.

The official Walt Disney Imagineering Instagram reveals the estimated completion date in the caption, writing,

We look forward to the opening of these new areas – including CommuniCore Plaza, CommuniCore Hall, and Journey of Water, Inspired by Moana – to guests in Late 2023!
