When choosing to stay in the Walt Disney World Resort, Guests have to consider the level of hotel accommodation that they wish to stay in. There are three categories to choose from when choosing a Walt Disney World Resort hotel:

  • Deluxe Resort, including Disney’s Beach Club, Contemporary Resort and Wilderness Lodge
  • Moderate Resort, including Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort, Coronado Springs Resort, and Port Orleans Resort
  • Value Resort

Disney’s All-Stars Resorts are the cheapest of the Walt Disney World Resorts to stay in. Each known as a Disney Value Resort, there are three All-Star Resorts:

  • Disney’s All-Star Movies Resort
  • Disney’s All-Star Music Resort
  • Disney’s All-Star Sports Resort

Whilst Disney’s All-Stars Resorts are the most affordable Resorts to stay in, they still have the true feeling of being right in the heart of the Disney magic. Think larger-than-life characters, bright colors, and access to Disney amenities. These Value Resorts are located close to the ESPN Wide World of Sports making it a great option for Guests taking part in a runDisney weekend. They are also just a short bus ride away from Disney’s Animal Kingdom, using the Walt Disney World Transportation System. Expect a slightly longer bus ride to Disney’s Hollywood Studios and EPCOT theme park from Disney’s All-Star Resorts. The longest bus journey is to Magic Kingdom and Disney Springs when travelling from the All-Star Resort hotels.

What’s available in the All-Star Resorts?

Each of the All-Star Resorts have their own quick-service dining location, gift store, arcade and playground. There are also two pools at each of the Disney Resorts; one is where the main entertainment and pool activities take place, whilst the other could be considered as a quieter pool. Guests staying in each of these Disney Resort hotels have access to a bus station where they can use the Walt Disney World Transportation System buses.

Each of the Value Resort hotels, including Disney’s Pop Century Resort and Disney’s Art of Animation Resort, also have their own campfire, and area where Movies under the Stars take place throughout the week. If there is anyone in your party that likes to keep up their fitness whilst on vacation, they can follow the New Balance 1-mile running route.

Which All-Stars Resort should you stay in though? Depending on your time of booking, you may find that there are only select Resorts to stay in. This tends to be true if you are making a hotel reservation close to your stay in the Walt Disney World Resort. If you are making a reservation several months in advance, then you are likely to find that you can choose from all three of the All-Stars Resorts.

Here we share the reasons why we love each of the All-Star Resorts that may help you decide which is the ideal one for you to stay at.

Disney All-Star Movies Resort

If movies are your thing, then you should definitely book a reservation at this Disney Resort hotel. There are 10 buildings that make up the Resort, with 2 in each section. The five sections of the Resort are:

  • Toy Story
  • 101 Dalmatians
  • Love Bug
  • Fantasia
  • Mighty Ducks

The Resort is set in a t-shape, with the Toy Story, 101 Dalmatians and Fantasia sections located closest to the main building, known as Cinema Hall. Whilst the Love Bug and Mighty Ducks sections are where Guests who have selected a standard room stay, they aren’t too much further from Cinema Hall than the other preferred room sections. The main pool at this Disney Resort is the Fantasia Pool; the quieter pool is the Duck Pond Pool, located in the Mighty Ducks section.

  • the Guest rooms have been recently refurbished, offering modern and spacious accommodation
  • there are several great photo opportunities around the Resort
  • standard rooms aren’t too far away from the amenities of the Disney Resort
  • you don’t have to visit a Disney Park to be surrounded by Disney characters – they’re all around you in this Disney Resort hotel!

Disney’s All-Star Music Resort

This is the perfect Walt Disney World hotel to stay at if you and your party are passionate about music. Just like Disney’s All-Star Movies Resort, there are 10 buildings that are split into five sections:

  • Country Fair
  • Broadway Hotel
  • Rock Inn
  • Jazz Inn
  • Calypso

Disney’s All-Star Music Resort has a long and narrow layout. As such, Guests staying in a preferred room will have easy access to Melody Hall, whilst Guests staying in the Broadway Hotel, Country Fair and Rock Inn sections will have a little further to walk to access the amenities at the Disney Resort. Calypso Pool is the main pool at this Walt Disney World Resort, whilst the Piano Pool is the quieter pool.

We love Disney’s All-Star Music Resort because:

  • the Guest rooms have been recently refurbished, offering modern and spacious accommodation
  • this is the only All-Stars Resort that offers family suites, which can sleep up to 6 adults. Disney’s Art of Animation Resort is the other Disney Value Resort that offers family suites. However, due to the family suites being themed at Art of Animation, Guests may find that it works out cheaper to stay in a Disney Moderate Resort.
  • great theming especially if you and your family love music

We recommend booking Disney’s All-Star Music Resort quickly if it is available during your Disney vacation. From our experience, this Disney Value Resort gets booked relatively quickly, in comparison to All-Star Movies and All-Star Sports.

Disney All-Star Sports Resort

If you love anything sport-related, then you have to stay in Disney’s All-Star Sports Resort. Not only will you love the larger-than-life building mascots, but also the  ‘sport field’ areas that create space to move in this Disney hotel. Following the set up of the other All-Stars Resorts, there are 5 sections at Disney’s All-Stars Sports, with 2 buildings in each section. The sections are:

  • Surfs Up!
  • Hoops Hotel
  • Center Court
  • Touchdown!
  • Homerun Hotel

The Surfboard Bay Pool is the main pool and located just outside of Stadium Hall, in the middle of the Surfs Up! section. The quieter pool is known as the Grand Slam Pool and located near the Homerun Hotel section. Whilst the Guest rooms at this Disney Resort are still in their original state, the Walt Disney Company have confirmed that they will soon be refurbished to the design of the other All-Stars Resorts.

  • great theming especially if you and your family love sport
  • the layout makes all sections pretty accessible to Stadium Hall, even if Guests choose to stay in a standard room rather than a preferred room
