We have some exciting news to share! You may have heard the rumor this past November that Walt Disney World may be developing a new hotel near Epcot. Well, great news – it looks like this rumor is reality! Thanks to the source, wdwnt.com, we’ve learned multiple permits were filed today which all point to YES, a new hotel is coming to Epcot and will be constructed near the entrance of the park in or around Future World.

So, where exactly will the location of this hotel be? We don’t have all the details we need to answer that, but we do know the 27 notices for this project released today (with code name “JPEC8060”) contain addresses on “Avenue of the Stars” – the backstage perimeter road around Epcot. We also know stormwater management plans show the area behind the Seas Pavilion to possibly hold much of the hotel and infrastructure. No worries, there are no rumors that we are aware of that the Seas Pavilion will be closing due to the hotel construction (thank goodness!).
While Disney Imagineers focus at Epcot is still on the development of the Guardians Coaster located in the former Universe of Energy attraction, we are excited this hotel will likely be the next project on the Epcot agenda. Meanwhile, check out the Magic Kingdom area rumor below.

Lastly, we would like to share a RUMOR (I repeat – this one is still a rumor!) about another hotel located near Magic Kingdom. It is rumored that preparations are underway for “New Magic Kingdom Area Hotels” as a permit was filed with the South Florida Water Management District showing that Disney may be looking to create a 30-acre site for “temporary stockpiling of earthwork””. This 30-acre site is located adjacent to the old STOLPort from the 1970s, parallel to World Drive and north of the Magic Kingdom Toll Plaza. So yes, this could just be “stockpiling of earthwork” but we are curious that it could develop into more. We’ll keep a close watch on this project referred to as “STOLPort Site”. Maybe a second DVC tower at Disney’s Contempory Resort? Only time will tell if this rumor will come to fruition.
