Meeting Disney characters is a highlight for many visitors at Walt Disney World, and it’s not just for kids! Even adults can enjoy reliving their favorite Disney memories by meeting iconic characters throughout the parks. From timeless classics to modern hits, there are plenty of opportunities to interact with your favorite Disney characters.

If you’re planning a trip and wondering where to start, here’s a guide to some of the best character meet-and-greets in Walt Disney World. But don’t stop here—there’s a whole world of characters waiting to meet you!

9. Ariel’s Grotto

Dive under the sea and meet the Little Mermaid herself at Ariel’s Grotto, located near Seven Dwarfs Mine Train in Magic Kingdom. This immersive experience brings guests into Ariel’s world, and it’s a perfect stop for any mermaid (or merman) fan. Ariel is available throughout the day, so there are plenty of chances to meet her. If you want to skip the line, be sure to check if there’s a Genie+ Lightning Lane option available.

8. Pocahontas: Character Landing

Over at Disney’s Animal Kingdom, you’ll find Pocahontas in her natural element—surrounded by nature on the Discovery Island Trails. Since this is the only place in the parks where you can meet her, she tends to be quite popular. Be sure to check the times guide to catch her appearance and have your camera ready!

7. Safari Mickey and Minnie: Adventurer’s Outpost

Animal Kingdom is also home to Mickey and Minnie, who are dressed for adventure at Adventurer’s Outpost. This is the only place where you can meet the iconic duo together, decked out in their safari gear. Fans of Mickey and Minnie will love the themed backdrop, complete with memorabilia from their travels around the world.

6. Enchanted Tales with Belle

Step into a magical storybook adventure at Magic Kingdom’s “Enchanted Tales with Belle.” This interactive attraction isn’t just a meet-and-greet—it’s a chance for guests to participate in a storytelling experience with Belle. The lines can get long, so it’s a good idea to plan ahead or check if a Genie+ Lightning Lane is available.

5. Gaston: Outside Gaston’s Tavern

If you’re looking for laughs, head over to Gaston’s Tavern in Magic Kingdom for an encounter with everyone’s favorite villain—Gaston! Known for his over-the-top confidence and humor, Gaston will flex his muscles and challenge you to a contest of wits. This character interaction is not to be missed for Beauty and the Beast fans.

4. Pandora Utility Suit: Pandora – The World of Avatar

While not technically a traditional character meet-and-greet, the 10-foot-tall Pandora Utility Suit in Animal Kingdom’s Pandora is an unforgettable sight. Piloted by a scientist from the Pandora Conservation Initiative, this massive mechanical suit interacts with guests while sharing insights about the flora and fauna of Pandora. Keep an eye out for it while exploring this stunning land.

3. Star Wars Launch Bay

At Hollywood Studios, the Star Wars Launch Bay is a must-visit for Star Wars fans. Here, you can meet iconic characters from the galaxy far, far away. Whether you want to give Chewbacca a hug, have a conversation with BB-8, or face off against Darth Vader, there’s a character for every Star Wars fan. Each character has their own meeting area, so be sure to check the wait times for your favorite.

2. Anna and Elsa: Royal Sommerhus

Frozen fans won’t want to miss meeting the royal sisters from Arendelle. Anna and Elsa can be found at the Royal Sommerhus in Epcot’s Norway pavilion. Since this is the only location in Walt Disney World where you can meet them, expect long lines, especially during peak times. Although there’s no Genie+ option for this meet-and-greet, arriving early can help minimize your wait.

1. Toy Story Land Characters

Over at Hollywood Studios, Toy Story Land is home to several popular character meet-and-greets. You’ll find Woody and Jessie near Toy Story Mania, and Buzz Lightyear usually meets guests near Slinky Dog Dash. The Green Army Men also roam the land, interacting with guests as they march around.

These character experiences are some of the most beloved in the park, so be prepared for longer waits—but it’s well worth it to meet these characters in their very own land.

Pro Tips for Character Meet-and-Greets

  1. Plan Ahead: Popular characters like Mickey, Anna and Elsa, and Star Wars icons often have long lines, especially during busy times. Use the My Disney Experience app to check wait times and character appearance schedules.
  2. Arrive Early: For characters without Genie+ Lightning Lanes, arriving early can help reduce wait times. Character lines tend to get longer as the day goes on.
  3. Get a PhotoPass: For the best keepsakes, consider purchasing the Memory Maker. Disney’s PhotoPass photographers are available at most character meet-and-greets and capture magical moments throughout the parks.
  4. Be Prepared to Wait: Even with the best planning, some lines may still be long. Be patient and enjoy the experience—character meet-and-greets are often some of the most magical moments of your Disney vacation.

Meeting Disney characters is a magical experience, whether you’re young or young at heart. These are just a few of the many character interactions available at Walt Disney World.

So grab your autograph book and camera, and get ready to meet your Disney favorites!
