While many guests love a Disney vacation and regularly visit, many don’t realize just how massive the property is. Walt Disney World features four theme parks, two water parks, Disney Springs, dozens of resorts, and countless dining options. With so many things to see and so, day to day tasks that come together to keep Disney running form an immense operation. From thousands of Cast Members to the number of props on each attraction, hearing statistics about the size of Disney is always impressive. Here are ten numbers that tell guests just how big Walt Disney World is.
10. 47 Square Miles
The Walt Disney World Resort is so huge that it occupies roughly forty seven square miles of land. While that number alone is huge, it is even more impressive to learn that only a small fraction of the available space has been developed into the parks and resorts that guests enjoy today. All of that remaining land is either being preserved or awaiting exciting new expansions in the future!
9. More than 25 Resorts
Many guests have a favorite Disney Resort that they refer to as their “home” and return to time and time again whereas others like to bounce around and try a different resort on each vacation. Those who like to try something new each time have plenty of options to choose from as Disney is home to twenty-five plus resorts! Guests can choose from Value resorts like Disney’s Art of Animation Resort and Disney’s Pop Century Resort, Moderate Resorts like Disney’s Port Orleans – French Quarter and Disney’s Caribbean Beach, or Deluxe Resorts like Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort or Disney’s Beach Club Resort.
8. Kilimanjaro’s Size
The largest attraction in all of Walt Disney World is Kilimanjaro Safaris in Disney’s Animal Kingdom. The attraction takes guests into the one hundred and ten acre Harambe Reserve where they embark on a two week safari to find animals like lions, giraffes, elephants, and hippos. Kilimanjaro Safaris is so massive that all of the Magic Kingdom can fit inside of it!
7. Railroad Tracks
The Walt Disney World Railroad is one of the most relaxing and scenic attractions in the Magic Kingdom and it takes guests on a leisurely loop of the park while stopping at three distinct stations. Guests might be so relaxed on their ride that they might not realize they are actually making a one and a half mile loop around the park!
6. Cast Members Galore!
With so many different jobs at Walt Disney World, it is no surprise that they employ an insane number of Cast Members. Over seventy thousand Cast Members are employed at a given time at the resort and they hold positions including janitors, ride operators, and food servers. Cast Members are always friendly and love talking to guests, so take some time to thank them for all that they do on a Disney vacation!

With so many elements in the show, an impressive group of over forty Cast Members take to the stage and lagoon each night to wow guests.
3. Spaceship Earth’s Triangles
Spaceship Earth is one of the most recognizable structures in Walt Disney World and it is the symbol of Epcot. The outside of the attraction is covered in many silver geometric triangles which are called tetrahedrons. The aquarium is so massive in diameter that Spaceship Earth could actually fit inside of it!
