10 Things to Experience This Fall 2019 at Walt Disney World

There are always a ton of great things to experience at Walt Disney World no matter when you visit, but fall 2019 will feature the addition of new experiences and attractions, plus a lot of great offerings that are exclusive to the season.  Check out these great 10 things to experience this fall 2019 at Walt Disney World:

10. Epcot International Food & Wine Festival – Epcot

The fall is a great time to visit Epcot.  The Epcot International Food & Wine Festival is an extremely popular event where guests can enjoy a variety of delicious food and beverage offerings. Guests can also experience special entertainment like musical concerts and demonstrations with regular park admission, as well as pay extra to experience special offerings with celebrity chefs and instructor-led training classes. The 2019 dates are August 29 – November 23.

9. Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge – Disney’s Hollywood Studios

This is probably one of the most exciting offerings this fall at Walt Disney World!  Phase 1 of this new, immersive land is now open at Walt Disney World as of August 29th. The second phase of the opening has been announced for December 5th, 2019.  The Phase 1 opening includes merchandise, dining and the opening of Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run. The Phase 2 opening will add another new attraction, Star Wars:  Rise of the Resistance. Expect Disney’s Hollywood Studios to be very busy for this fall.

8. Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party – Magic Kingdom Park

This special Halloween-themed event is offered on select nights between August 16 – November 1.  The event is a limited ticket, after closing event at Magic Kingdom Park.  Guests get to enjoy special themed entertainment, merchandise, character interactions, food offerings and more.  Guests also get to enjoy trick-or-treating at the stations that are scattered throughout the park.  Guests will experience fewer lines for popular attractions and enjoy the park after it is taken over for Halloween.

7. Disney Skyliner – Select Resort Hotels, Disney’s Hollywood Studios and Epcot

We have been anxiously awaiting a new transportation offering to be added to Walt Disney World.  The Disney Skyliner is a gondola system that is expected to open September 29th.  The Disney Skyliner will have a station in the World Showcase area of Epcot, Disney’s Hollywood Studios and Walt Disney World Resorts including Disney’s Art of Animation Resort, Disney’s Pop Century Resort, Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort and Disney’s Riviera Resort. Some of the gondolas will feature Disney characters and we can’t wait to see them in action!

6. NBA Experience – Disney Springs

The new NBA Experience is now open in Disney Springs! The NBA Experience is located in the building where Disney Quest previously resided.  There is a variety of interactive basketball experiences for guests to enjoy as well as merchandise and food.

5. Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party – Magic Kingdom Park

If you will be visiting in November, you will be in luck if you are looking for a little bit of holiday cheer.  Right after Halloween, Magic Kingdom Park is quickly transformed from a fall theme over to being fully decked out for the holidays.  Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party is on select nights November 8 – December 22.  The event features special themed entertainment, merchandise, character interactions, food offerings and more.  Guests can also enjoy complimentary cookies, cocoa and other treats at stations throughout Magic Kingdom Park. 

4. Epcot Forever – Epcot

IllumiNations: Reflections of Earth, the long running evening fireworks show at Epcot, is set to have its last performance on September 30th, 2019 with Epcot Forever debuting in its place on October 1st, 2019.  Epcot Forever is supposed to be a temporary evening show for the park, but is expected to run into 2020.  Epcot Forever is expected to be an entirely new and enhanced show, so it should be exciting to see!

3. runDisney Wine & Dine Half Marathon Weekend

If you like participating in Disney race events, then you probably already have your registrations for the runDisney Wine & Disney Half Marathon Weekend.  There isn’t just a half marathon event offered.  There is also a 10K, 5K, Kids’ Races and a variety of challenges based on what races you complete.  The 2019 events will be held from October 31st through November 3rd, 2019.

2. Holiday Decorations – Disney’s Animal Kingdom (and all the other parks and resorts)

There are holiday decorations all throughout Walt Disney World that start going up right after Halloween.  Magic Kingdom typically has decorations up first and then the other areas start to follow throughout November at it gets closer to Thanksgiving.  For the first time, Disney’s Animal Kingdom will have themed holiday decorations for each land.  The decorations are expected to be up in early November, so if you are visiting during that time, you are in for a special new holiday treat!

1. Epcot International Festival of the Holidays – Epcot

If you are visiting Epcot between November 29 – December 30, 2019, then you will get to experience Epcot International Festival of the Holidays.  The park is decorated for the holidays and features a variety of kitchens and stands with special holiday food and beverage offerings.  There is also a variety of themed entertainment like the storytellers within each World Showcase pavilion and the guest favorite, Candlelight Processional.  The festival events at Epcot never disappoint and they are included with regular park admission.
