Your New Year’s resolution may be perfectly well-intentioned, but let’s face it, chances are it won’t last beyond the first week of January (we’ve all been there).  So, maybe it’s time for a resolution of a completely different sort – one that you’ll actually want to keep!  Here are some of our favorite Walt Disney World New Year’s resolutions for 2020.  Why not borrow them, or even better, create your own?  Let’s make it a magical year to remember!

1. Book a Backstage Tour

If you want to feel like a Disney VIP, then your New Year’s resolution should be to book one of Walt Disney World’s backstage tours.  See areas of the parks other guests don’t have access to (or don’t even know exist), like the Utilidors under Magic Kingdom, or meet a rhino at Animal Kingdom, or swim with Nemo and his friends at Epcot – and earn serious bragging rights along the way!  There are a variety of backstage tours available, so it’s just a matter of picking the one that’s perfect for your family.

2. Dine at a New Restaurant

One of the great things about Walt Disney World is that it’s always improving.  No two visits are ever alike, because there’s always something new to discover!  So on your next visit, why not dine at one (or two, or three) of WDW’s newest restaurants?  You’ll enjoy a new culinary adventure, and there’s nothing like gloating to your friends that you ate there first!  Take in the tapas and views at Toledo – Tapas, Steak & Seafood at the new Gran Desino Tower at Disney’s Coronado Springs Resort, mix with the intergalactic crowd at Oga’s Cantina in Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge, or indulge in some fine dining at Jaleo by Jose Andreas at Disney Springs.  Bon appétit!

3. Escape to a Galaxy Far, Far Away

By now, even those with only a passing acquaintance with Star Wars will know about Walt Disney World’s new land in Hollywood Studios.  If you’re visiting WDW in 2020, Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge should be at the top of your to-do list!  We can’t wait to fly the Millennium Falcon, take a stroll around Batuu, and of course, try that famous Blue Milk.

4. Plan a Resort Day

There’s more to explore than ever before beyond the parks themselves, so why not designate one day as a resort day during your next vacation to WDW?  You’ll save money on park tickets, and you’ll be able to see how the other half live by strolling around the grounds and lobbies of even Disney’s most magnificent properties.  Listen to the in-house band in the glorious lobby of Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort and Spa, relax in Disney’s Contemporary Resort as the monorail whizzes by, or chill with a Dole Whip on a tropical beach at Disney’s Polynesian Villages Resort – but don’t stop there!  There are dozens of WDW resorts waiting to be explored!

5. Have More Fun Getting There

Many guests use Disney’s complimentary bus service exclusively when visiting WDW, and this is an efficient and comfortable way to get around.  But this year, why not discover some new ways of getting to your destination?  After all, the journey matters just as much as the destination!  Hop on a water taxi to enjoy the sights as you relax along Walt Disney World’s water ways, or take an exciting ride in the sky on a Disney Skyliner gondola for some out-of-this-world views.

6. Enjoy Some Live Entertainment

Let’s face it, a day at Walt Disney World can be a little hectic!  One of our New Year’s resolutions is to fit in more live shows on property.  The calibre of performances at WDW is stellar, and sitting in an air-conditioned theatre for a well-deserved break in the middle of a day in the parks sounds pretty fabulous!  There’s a live show for everyone, whether you want to go under the sea with magnificent puppets at Finding Nemo the Musical, or revisit a tale as old as time with Beauty and the Beast – Live on Stage, or sing your favorite Frozen songs with Anna, Elsa and Kristoff at For the First Time in Forever: A Frozen Sing-Along Celebration.

7. Explore Healthy Meal Choices

Walt Disney World is full of delectable treats and sumptuous feasts, and it can be a challenge saying no to any of them – even if it means you might not fit into the clothes you packed by the end of your trip!  This year, we’re going to seek out some of the (surprisingly abundant) healthier snack and meal options at WDW, which we’re told can be just as delicious and unique as their calorie-laden counterparts.  Guilt-free, tasty food that actually makes us feel good as we run around the parks?  Yes, please!

8. Take Your Disney Vacation to the Next Level

If you’ve already made and kept all of the above WDW New Year’s resolutions, then you’re probably a Walt Disney World pro, and chances are you’re ready for our final Disney-themed resolution.  Why not branch out this year, and have a Disney adventure outside of the USA?  You’ll discover a whole new world of Disney fun, and be immersed in new cultures along the way.  Meet Anna and Elsa on a Disney cruise to Norway, visit the rainforests of Costa Rica on a guided trip with Adventures by Disney, or check out the biggest Disney castle in the world at Shanghai Disneyland.
