4 Amazing Walt Disney World Events

Walt Disney World is an amazing vacation and experience all in itself, without any extra events. That being said, we love the added magic and experiences that Disney offers and they leave us wanting to visit Disney multiple times a year so that we can experience it all! The special events and seasons at Disney are truly nothing short of amazing and hopefully you are lucky enough for a trip to align with one of these. Here are 4 amazing Walt Disney World events that you won’t want to miss:

4. RunDisney Events

If you are a walker/runner who enjoys organized events, then you will be thrilled about these one-of-a-kind events. You get the opportunity to run through planned courses all over Walt Disney World Resort. These races are themed, and many participants dress up in costumes and coordinated outfits to take the fun to the next level. There are several different events each year that include combinations of a marathon, half marathon, 10K, 5K and kids’ races of varying lengths. These events have a set cost based on each race to register, but DO NOT require park admission to participate. The registration includes refreshments through the course and at the end of the race, a few swag items and your timed chip and results. Friends and family are able to watch you at different points during the race, too! These events are extremely popular and book up almost immediately, be sure to check out the dates and plan early if you are interested.

3. Flower and Garden Festival – Epcot (Early March – Mid May)

If you have a love and appreciation for flora and fauna, then you won’t want to miss this event. The Flower and Garden Festival takes over all of Epcot and brings color and life all over the park. Along with the amazing gardens and displays, the event includes many seminars and learning opportunities for guests. They are able to learn about the care, development and treatment for all types of plants so that guests can apply what they learn in their own gardens at home. There are also interactive play areas to keep kids entertained and engaged in the event as well as concerts and other entertainment to round out this amazing festival. The festival is included in regular Epcot admission, so there is no extra cost to experience this event, which is a huge plus!

2. Fall/Halloween at Disney World (Early September – Early November)

There are so many amazing things that you can experience during the fall season at Walt Disney World. Epcot will start their annual Food and Wine Festival during this time. This is an amazing event where over 40 countries and cultures are represented to bring you classic food, wine and education from their respective countries to allow you to experience even more during your visit at Epcot. You will definitely want to experience all that this event has to offer. There are culinary demonstrations, celebrity chefs, wine tastings, wine pairing courses and Beat to the Eat concerts with well-known bands to get you pumped up for all of the amazing events at the festival. This festival is also included in regular Epcot admission, so you won’t have to break the bank in order to be there! But wait, there’s more! Magic Kingdom completely transforms for the season and the fall decorations are beautiful. Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party is also held on select nights (separate party admission is required), where you can trick or treat in the parks, see shows and a parade that can only be seen at the party, dance parties and limited treats and merchandise that are exclusive to party guests. The party is extremely fun and allows you to experience lots of fun Halloween-themed activities, music and fun with less crowds than you would encounter on a normal day in the Magic Kingdom. Not only that EVERYONE can dress in costume (no masks) and guests really get into the costumes with some being quite elaborate. Buy your tickets early since some nights do sell out quickly.

About Christy Caby

I am a diehard Disney fanatic! I fell in love with all things Disney from an early age and that only increased once I first visited Walt Disney World! It led me to complete a yearlong Disney College Program working at merchandise locations within Disney’s Hollywood Studios (Disney-MGM Studios at that time) and I worked for Disney Parks & Resorts Technology in Project/Program Management. Now I get to write about Disney and help others plan their magical vacations! Disney holds a special place in the hearts of my entire family as my husband proposed there, we honeymooned there, took trips while pregnant with each of my boys and have visited with them many, many times from 8 weeks old through now. One of my favorite memories from each trip is always the look on my kids’ faces the first time they see the castle. I’d love to help you plan your magical vacation!
