6 Things You Will Love about Akershus Royal Banquet Hall and Princess Storybook Restaurant

Christy Caby

This is definitely a hot spot to dine at. You can expect that reservations go really quick for this location, so you will want to book as early as possible so that you make sure this is a part of your vacation itinerary. This location is great for boys and girls, of all ages and definitely has something for the whole family. Here are 6 things that you will love about Akershus Royal Banquet Hall and Princess Storybook Restaurant:

6. The cost.

This dining experience isn’t necessarily “cheap”, but it is a cheaper option to the comparable princess dining option at Cinderella’s Royal Table, by at least $20-30 per adult. This location also only costs 1 Disney Dining Plan entitlement, while Cinderella’s Royal Table costs 2 entitlements. You also don’t have to pay up front to reserve like you do with other popular dining events! This makes a much affordable way to see most of the princesses and still enjoy a great meal and family experience.

5. Breakfast option at Epcot.

There are only 2 breakfast table-service options at Epcot, so that makes this a great (and highly popular) spot to enjoy breakfast at Epcot and get a great start to your day there. This breakfast is all you care to enjoy, so you can even fill up and probably get by with only a snack for lunch, thus saving you more time during your Epcot day.

4. The atmosphere.

The beautiful architecture, columns, windows and décor have you feeling like you are dining in a beautiful castle-type location. This is one location that really immerses you into the culture and architecture of the pavilion, thus adding to the unique dining experience. The detailed wood ceilings are stunning, and have beautiful chandeliers lighting the dining room. This is definitely an amazing way to experience “Norway” and you get to experience the excitement of all the guests eagerly waiting to meet their favorite princesses. It really is something right out of a storybook!

3. Early entry into the World Showcase at Epcot.

The World Showcase at Epcot doesn’t open until 11AM. Breakfast starts at 8AM, so you get to access the area earlier than everyone else when you have a reservation during this time slot. This gives you a nice stroll and view of the World Showcase without tons of other guests around. It is quiet and peaceful, and a really great experience. Since Epcot doesn’t usually open until 9AM, you also get some of the same experience throughout Future World on your walk back, depending on your reservation time. The 8AM time is definitely my favorite time to book!

2. Unique, delicious menu.

The menu at the location, no matter whether you dine for breakfast, lunch or dinner is a true taste of Norway and the cuisine. You can expect potato dishes, fish and seafood dishes, tons of meat options and lots of savory sides. If you dine for lunch or dinner, be sure to save room for the dessert. You get The Royal Chef’s Dessert Plate, which is 3 different full desserts for you to enjoy. It is an elegant and delicious way to end a delicious meal. This is definitely food that is unlike anywhere else on property, and extremely delicious. You will just want to be sure that you save room for your meal!

1. The princesses.

Need I say more? You can expect to see any combination of Ariel, Belle, Cinderella, Mary Poppins, Aurora and Snow White. They will make their way from table to table to have a personal interaction with you and your family. You won’t have to wait in lines to see them, so you get to enjoy your delicious meal while you interact with princess after princess. It is a wonderful time and a great way to meet these beloved characters.

About Christy Caby

I am a diehard Disney fanatic! I fell in love with all things Disney from an early age and that only increased once I first visited Walt Disney World! It led me to complete a yearlong Disney College Program working at merchandise locations within Disney’s Hollywood Studios (Disney-MGM Studios at that time) and I worked for Disney Parks & Resorts Technology in Project/Program Management. Now I get to write about Disney and help others plan their magical vacations! Disney holds a special place in the hearts of my entire family as my husband proposed there, we honeymooned there, took trips while pregnant with each of my boys and have visited with them many, many times from 8 weeks old through now. One of my favorite memories from each trip is always the look on my kids’ faces the first time they see the castle. I’d love to help you plan your magical vacation!
