The Harambe Market is a section within Africa at Disney’s Animal Kingdom that is designed to look like the streets of Africa and give you an idea of the different street foods that you might experience on a real visit to an African market. It is a lively, fun place with lots of delicious bites! Here are 7 things that you will love about Harambe Market:

7. The Atmosphere

This unique location is perfectly themed to transport you to a real African marketplace. The buildings are beautiful and everything looks like it came right out of Africa. It is such a fun lively environment that you will love hanging out there to take a break, see the sights, eat or shop. There is a lot of extra seating so, so it is a great place to take a load off and enjoy being immersed in the environment and beauty.

6. Zuri’s Sweets Shop Close By

This is your place to get delicious African-inspired sweets, pastries and other delicious goodies. Located just across the Harambe Market entrance sign, you’ll find something to satisfy your sweet tooth in the huge case of all kinds of delectable items. You will likely even see some of your favorite characters make an appearance and influence on some of the treats.

5. Mobile Ordering Available

It’s super simple to use Mobile Ordering at numerous Quick Service Restaurants throughout Disney World Property, and Harambe Market is one of those locations! Order and pay for your food from the My Disney Experience app and pick up your food when you arrive. It’s an awesome way to skip the lines that tend to gather at Harambe Market.

4. Kitamu Grill

You can get a ground beef kabob flatbread or grilled chicken skewer. They are both served with roasted broccoli and tomato salad, and are both delicious! It is a great option to fill up and recharge. You can also select the African wine pairing to go with the meal if you are a wine drinker (or other alcoholic or non-alcoholic beverages).

3. Famous Sausages

Are you a sausage fan? Are you a corn dog fan? Well, this is a bit of a mash up between the two, and one of my favorites! The batter has curry in it, so it really tastes like an African dish. This is also served with the broccoli and tomato salad, along with the wine, beer or other drink pairing of your choice. You will be amazed at how delicious and filling this one is!

2. Chef Mwanga’s

Have rib eaters in your group? This spot offers spice rubbed Karubi ribs, with a side of a delicious African take on slaw. My husband, a rib connoisseur, loves these and feels they are a real treat when we are in the park. Don’t forget something delicious to wash it down with! Be adventurous and try one of the pairings!

1. Wanjoji Refreshments

Not hungry and just want a refreshment? Look no further! Here is the spot to get your alcoholic or non-alcoholic drinks to help you beat the heat in Africa! We’d have to recommend the Leopard’s Eye which is Snow Leopard Vodka blended with kiwi and mango flavored Bibo. It is dangerously delicious and extremely refreshing!

About Christy Caby

I am a diehard Disney fanatic! I fell in love with all things Disney from an early age and that only increased once I first visited Walt Disney World! It led me to complete a yearlong Disney College Program working at merchandise locations within Disney’s Hollywood Studios (Disney-MGM Studios at that time) and I worked for Disney Parks & Resorts Technology in Project/Program Management. Now I get to write about Disney and help others plan their magical vacations! Disney holds a special place in the hearts of my entire family as my husband proposed there, we honeymooned there, took trips while pregnant with each of my boys and have visited with them many, many times from 8 weeks old through now. One of my favorite memories from each trip is always the look on my kids’ faces the first time they see the castle. I’d love to help you plan your magical vacation!
