6. Dining in the “rainforest”

The theming of the restaurant is something you would definitely expect to see in a dining location on Disney property. From the beautiful aquariums, the rock-like walls, the animals, the lush-looking greenery all around, you can feel the transformation from Florida to the rainforest. The restaurant is darker on the inside and an immersive experience that really takes you away from the heat and sun of the day. You could end up in the Gorilla room, the Elephant Room or close to the fountain with various animals. We can’t pick a favorite spot to sit since really every table gives a great vantage point of the action.

5. 2 different locations on property

This restaurant offers 2 different locations on property that can both be accessed without paying park admission. One is located the front of Disney’s Animal Kingdom lodge. You won’t need a park pass, but you do get a private entrance to the park if you go out the back of the restaurant through the gift shop to enter the park. You are able to swipe your Magic Band/Card and get back to the fun of the park. This location also offers a breakfast service! The inside is almost identical to the other location in Disney Springs. You can’t miss this location when you are there because it is the huge volcano that erupts every so often. The volcano is absolutely amazing and there’s added excitement, feeling like you are going to dine inside of a volcano! Both locations offer the same meals, drinks, gift shop items, experience, etc., but both are still worth a visit!

4. The wild gift shop

This is a really fun shop to look around in while you wait or after dinner. The shop usually has some great deals on merchandise and discounted merchandise if you are looking for less expensive souvenirs. They have just about every jungle animal that you can think of in toys, plush, shirts, jewelry, etc. The gift shop is rather large and seems to have a wide array of items. We always make sure to take time to walk around, check out the deals and even make a purchase or two. The décor and detail of the restaurant carries over to the design of the gift shop, too! You can stop in even if you aren’t dining there!

3. The cocktails, with options to keep your glass

Whether you are at the bar or a table, pay attention to the options you have to get a souvenir glass. They will give you a fresh, clean glass in a box to take home with you if you take advantage of this option, and they are pretty good quality glass. There are different styles offered, depending on the type of drink, so consider this if you would like the souvenir for a few dollars. Did I also mention that the drinks are DELICIOUS! Ask your server for recommendations if you aren’t sure what you would like! They haven’t steered me wrong yet!

2. VOLCANO!!!

You may notice that regularly throughout your meal, the staff are walking through the dining room carrying an amazing-looking dessert while exclaiming, “VOLCANO!” Well, that just happens to be the name of this delicious dessert and it definitely warrants the grand entrance when it is placed at your table. This is a dessert that you will want to share with the whole family and save room for. It is a brownie cake tower topped with ice cream, fudge and caramel sauce. You can’t go wrong with that!

1. The regular rainstorms

Roughly every 15-20 minutes, a rainstorm erupts throughout the restaurant. All of the rainforest animals go crazy, the lights flicker, the noise picks up…. It is just a lot of fun and a truly immersive experience. It is something to be mindful of, if you have children who may be easily scared when the thunder is booming and the animals are going wild, but I wouldn’t consider it very scary. My boys have been going since they were babies and haven’t ever had an issue. It is an awesome experience for the whole family.

About Christy Caby

I am a diehard Disney fanatic! I fell in love with all things Disney from an early age and that only increased once I first visited Walt Disney World! It led me to complete a yearlong Disney College Program working at merchandise locations within Disney’s Hollywood Studios (Disney-MGM Studios at that time) and I worked for Disney Parks & Resorts Technology in Project/Program Management. Now I get to write about Disney and help others plan their magical vacations! Disney holds a special place in the hearts of my entire family as my husband proposed there, we honeymooned there, took trips while pregnant with each of my boys and have visited with them many, many times from 8 weeks old through now. One of my favorite memories from each trip is always the look on my kids’ faces the first time they see the castle. I’d love to help you plan your magical vacation!
