7 Reasons You Will Love Walt Disney World Restaurants

At many theme parks, eating is an annoying necessity and you are forced to pay a lot of money for cheap food. This could not be further from the truth at Walt Disney World! For many, dining is just as much a part of the magical Disney experience as the rides. Whether you’re a foodie who likes to experiment with unique offerings or a meat and potatoes guy, you are sure to find some Disney restaurants to fall in love with. Here are 7 reasons you will love Disney restaurants:

7. Theming –

One of my favorite things about Walt Disney World is the intentionality and theming that you see throughout the parks. From little details on rides to the cast members outfits, everything fits together to tell a story or to produce a certain ambiance. Disney restaurants are no different. Some restaurants, like Be Our Guest, the Sci-Fi Dine In, 50’s Prime Time Café, and the Coral Reef, are heavily themed and the experience is more than just a meal. At others, like many of the restaurants in World Showcase, the details and atmosphere take you so far into another world that it is easy to forget the busy theme park crowds you left behind outside. Whichever restaurant you choose, make sure to be present and keep your eyes open, because there is always a lot to see!

6. Location –

You know the old saying: “Location, location, location!”? Well, Disney has taken this to the next level. They don’t just put restaurants in great locations, they put them everywhere! Wherever you are in the world of Disney, you will find a restaurant nearby. Like in many theme parks, there is a plethora of quick service restaurants throughout the parks. Disney does not stop there though. There are also great table service restaurants throughout the theme parks and at most of the Disney resorts. This means you don’t have to choose between a great meal and getting the most out of your time at the parks and your resort.

5. Price –

I am not going to kid you and say that all Disney restaurants are reasonably priced, as that just isn’t true. However, Disney does a good job of providing a variety of dining price points to accommodate different budgets. If you are looking for a signature dining experience where a high price denotes a quality meal, there are many options for you. If you are on a tight budget, there are many options for you as well. Disney’s counter service restaurants may be a little pricier than your typical fast food joint, but when compared to other places with captive audiences (like airports!), they are really fairly reasonable. Some of the table service restaurants’ prices are equivalent to what you will find off Disney property and some are pricier, but they all offer a more unique dining experience than you’ll find at a traditional chain restaurant. When you consider the quality of the food and the experience, the price is generally right where it should be.

4. Special Diets –

Disney restaurants are known for doing a great job of accommodating guests with special diets. When you make your Advanced Dining Reservations, you will be asked for information about any dietary restrictions in your party. Once you arrive at the restaurant, the chef or manager will usually visit you at your table to get more information about your restriction and walk you through the menu. For those with allergies, it is very comforting to talk directly to a chef or manager, rather than having to pass messages through a server. Even the quick service restaurants take great care to learn about restrictions and accommodate guests. Travelling can often be challenging for someone with a limited diet, but Disney makes it easy and comfortable.

3. Cast members –

The quality of the staff at Disney restaurants is generally superb. As with most Disney cast members, it is obvious that they enjoy their jobs and are invested in the guest experience. Whether you are at a restaurant like the Whispering Canyon Café where the servers are part of the show, or ordering at the counter of a quick service restaurant, you will find cast members who are committed to the authenticity of your experience.

2. Reservations –

All of Disney’s table service restaurants take reservations, and it is quite difficult walk in and get a table without a reservation. While this can be frustrating if you don’t plan ahead, it is really wonderful if you do! You can make reservations up to 180 days in advance, which means you have plenty of time to get excited about the meals that you choose. When you arrive at the restaurant, you will either be seated immediately or have a very short wait while your table is prepared. As long as you plan ahead and make reservations, you can be assured that you won’t be wasting precious park time waiting for a table.

1. The Food –

There is tremendous diversity in the food options at Disney World, and most of it is delicious! There is so much to choose from on every menu, so I suggest reading reviews ahead of time to help you decide which delicious menu option to order.

About Katie D

I grew up in New Jersey in a family where the word “vacation” was synonymous with “Disney World.” After a few years of visiting regularly, my family became Disney Vacation Club members which meant we visited even more! Going to Disney always felt kind of like going home, and some of my best childhood and teenage memories occurred there. Now that I live in Jacksonville, FL I am excited to be a short drive from this magical place and look forward to making new memories for years to come.
