7 reasons you will love staying at Disney’s Vacation Club

By Katie D
The Disney Vacation Club is Disney’s vacation ownership program. Members buy in with an initial investment and pay a yearly maintenance fee. In exchange, they get an annual allotment of points that can be used to stay at Disney Vacation Club resorts. The Disney Vacation Club (DVC) has 13 properties – nine of which are at Walt Disney World. The DVC properties offer a unique resort experience that you are bound to fall in love with. Luckily, you do not need to be a DVC member to stay at a Vacation Club property. Some rooms, called Disney Deluxe Villas, are available for booking just as you would book a regular hotel room at a Walt Disney World Resort. There are also some companies that facilitate renting points from DVC members, which can be a great way to stay in these deluxe accommodations for less than the published room rates. However you come to stay at a Disney Vacation Club property, here are 7 reasons we are sure you will love it!

7. Welcome Home –

The Disney Vacation Club resorts take pride in saying “Welcome Home” to their guests. They really create a homey feeling and, from the moment you arrive, you are treated like more than just a guest. The villas provide more amenities than a traditional hotel, which allows you to make yourself at home for the length of your stay.

6. Laundry –

Let’s face it folks – everyone’s Disney vacation is unique, but if there is one adjective that can be used to described most of them, it’s sweaty! On top of that, there are soda and ice cream spills and that gunk that you didn’t see when you sat down on the bench. The Disney Vacation Club Resorts have you covered! They are all equipped with washers and driers so that you can take care of your laundry during your stay. This means you can pack lighter (and save money on those checked bags!) and nips stains immediately instead of waiting until you get home. One-bedroom, two-bedroom, and Grand Villa units have their own washers and driers, so you can do laundry in the privacy of your own villa. Guests staying in studios have access to common washers and driers located throughout the property.

5. Living space –

The DVC villas provide significantly more living space than a traditional hotel room. Even the Studio, the smallest unit, generally provides a living area in addition to the bed. The larger units offer a full living room and plenty of space for your party to spread out. We see two main benefits of this living space. First, after spending long days in the parks together, it can be nice to have some privacy. In a traditional hotel room, everyone is on top of each other. In the villas, you can actually spread out and have some personal time while you relax in your room. This can lead to less conflict, and an overall happier vacation! Second, it makes it easier to extend your vacation.

4. Kitchens –

One of the best amenities provided in the DVC villas is a kitchen!! A full kitchen is provided in the one-bedroom, two-bedrooom, and Grand Villa units. This is a great way to save some money on your vacation, as Disney dining costs add up quick!! You can stock up on groceries at a local supermarket if you have a car, or use a grocery delivery service. The full size fridge will allow you to shop once for your whole trip. Even if saving money isn’t a concern, you still might enjoy having a home-cooked meal or two in between all the restaurant food.

3. Whirlpool tub –

Yup – that’s right! Most of the non-studio units come with a whirlpool tub in the master bedroom. I cannot think of anything more relaxing at the end of a loooong day in the parks then a bubbly soak in the tub.

2. Locations at the coolest resorts –

When the Disney Vacation Club first started, it was limited to one property – Old Key West. Now the Disney Vacation Club villas are located at some of the most desirable resorts at Walt Disney World. You can feel like you are on Safari at the Animal Kingdom Villas, enjoy the best resort pool on property at the Beach Club Villas, or live in luxury at the Bay Lake Tower at the Contemporary. The Grand Floridian, Polynesian, and Boardwalk resorts also boast villas.

1. Variety –

Some Disney visitors like staying close to the parks, immersed in excitement and energy of the happiest place on earth. Others prefer a relaxed atmosphere that is more removed from the hustle and bustle of the parks. Whichever type of visitor you are, the Disney Vacation Club has you covered! Want to be able to walk to the Magic Kingdom or watch the Wishes fireworks show from your resort? Stay at the Bay Lake Towers or the Villas at the Grand Floridian. Want to walk to Epcot, or have nightlife at your doorstep? Stay at the Beach Club Villas or the Boardwalk Villas. If you are looking for a quieter stay, Old Key West or Saratoga Springs will be right up your alley. Saratoga Spring provides a calming atmosphere, with the benefits of golfing and a top-rated spa and Old Key West’s laid-back atmosphere will ensure you spend your whole stay on “island time.” Whatever atmosphere you’re looking for, there is a Disney Vacation Club resort for you!

About Katie D

I grew up in New Jersey in a family where the word “vacation” was synonymous with “Disney World.” After a few years of visiting regularly, my family became Disney Vacation Club members which meant we visited even more! Going to Disney always felt kind of like going home, and some of my best childhood and teenage memories occurred there. Now that I live in Jacksonville, FL I am excited to be a short drive from this magical place and look forward to making new memories for years to come.
