It’s hard to say anything bad about Dumbo the Flying Elephant. It’s one of those attractions that makes you smile whenever you think about it. Dumbo should be on everyone’s must do list for every Walt Disney World vacation. Here are a few things that you will love about Dumbo the Flying Elephant.
7. It’s an Adorable Ride
This one is kind of obvious. All you need to do is take one look at those flying elephants and you will understand. It doesn’t matter your age, you’re never too old to see the cuteness of Dumbo the Flying Elephant. Even when you’re not riding you will want to snap a picture or two.
6. Dumbo the Flying Elephant Is International
There’s a Dumbo the Flying Elephant ride at every Disney Resort in the world. The places may be different, but the concept and the cuteness will always remain. How’s this for a life’s goal; to ride every Dumbo the Flying Elephant in the world?
5. The Movie Is a Classic
The movie Dumbo came out on October 23, 1941 and it is still a favorite of many people today. It was one of Walt Disney’s early successes. There are many amazing movies coming out these days, but you can’t help love and appreciate the early classics like this one.
4. No Height Restriction
There is no height restriction for Dumbo the Flying Elephant, so your whole family can enjoy it together. Even if you love the thrill rides you can still appreciate this fun ride. An added bonus is that you’ll enjoy an amazing view of the park while you’re up in the air.
3. Twice as Many Elephants
In 2012, Walt Disney World doubled the number of elephants by adding a second spinning carousel. There are now 32 elephants that can fly. That means double the fun and less of a wait. This is the other thing that has helped to make the standby wait shorter.
2. One of the Original Attractions at Magic Kingdom
The Magic Kingdom opened on October 1, 1971, and Dumbo the Flying Elephant was one of the attractions. Many of those rides are no longer around, but fortunately Dumbo the Flying Elephant is still flying high. There is so much love for this ride that there are no plans for it to ever be replaced.
1. Fantastic Play Area for Your Wait
If you wait in the standby line there is a circus themed kids’ play area that is air-conditioned. You’ll be given a pager so the little ones can play and have a great time before you get to fly with Dumbo. You can sit down and let the kids play if you want to take a break, or maybe you would like to join them instead. You might want to get in line in the heat of the day so that you can take a break and still be surrounded by magic. Take Note: Since Walt Disney World phased reopening in 2020, the play area has remained closed due to high touch area safety. We hope to see it reopen sometime soon enough!
