The world of Jurassic Park is about to take flight — literally — with the introduction of “Jurassic World: Archipelago” for “Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024”.
In partnership with Universal Products & Experiences, developer Orbx has built a licensed add-on that features Isla Nublar, Isla Sorna, and the remaining islands of the fictional Cinco Muertes chain from the films, along with several real-world Costa Rican locations.
Watch the official trailer below:
According to the official website, the add-on takes place just prior to Jurassic World (2015). “Isla Nublar hums with activity: monorails weave through the jungle, the Innovation Center stands tall, and the island is ready for guests,” the descriptions reads.
“Meanwhile, Isla Sorna remains untouched – its abandoned structures slowly being reclaimed by nature.”
Players can take on flight-based challenges such as VIP Transport and Guided Tour, travel between islands, and encounter dinosaurs including Velociraptor and Tyrannosaurus Rex.
This upcoming virtual experience complements Universal’s growing list of immersive Jurassic attractions.
Universal Studios theme park resorts continue to offer up the likes of VelociCoaster and Jurassic Park River Adventure rides, while in the U.K., Jurassic World: The Experience allows visitors to walk through lifelike environments complete with animatronic dinosaurs.
For fans who are more interested in immersing themselves into the world of Jurassic in virtual form, though, there’s plenty on the horizon.
In addition to the new Simulator add-on, there are two official Jurassic games in development: the third entry in the hugely popular park management simulation series, “Jurassic World Evolution,” which releases on October 21, and the first-person action-adventure “Jurassic Park: Survival,” which takes place 24 hours after the events of the original 1993 film directed by Steven Spielberg (although there’s no release date as yet).
The “Jurassic World: Archipelago” expansion is planned for release at the end of August or start of September. Visit the website’s FAQs for more information.
