‘Star Wars’ Beloved Jedi Won’t Be Getting a Follow-Up Series

Disney’s Star Wars: Visions has been one of the franchise’s most surprising critical successes, with its anthology format giving creators from around the world a chance to tell experimental stories outside of mainline canon. But as Volume 3 approaches this fall, one of its most beloved episodes is being left behind.

Visions debuted in 2021, offering nine standalone shorts produced by seven different Japanese animation studios. The variety of tones and styles quickly made it a fan favorite entry, and Lucasfilm doubled down with another nine episodes in 2023.

Volume 3, however, will mark a first for the series: sequels. Episodes like “The Duel”, “The Village Bride”, and “The Ninth Jedi” will all get follow-ups when the new set arrives on October 29. But despite fans’ hopes, “Lop and Ocho” isn’t among them.

What Is “Lop and Ocho”?

The episode, which follows the rabbit-like Lepi heroine Lop on the occupied planet Tao, quickly stood out. It struck a balance between the grounded, emotional storytelling of classic Star Wars and anime’s flair for visual spectacle. The Jedi Lop’s design seemed tailor-made for merchandising, too: her umbrella-like weapon, her visor, her droid TD-4, and her samurai-inspired attire all felt destined for toys and collectibles.

Yet virtually nothing has been done with the character since her debut.

This is especially frustrating because “Lop and Ocho” ends on a cliffhanger that almost demands continuation. While other stories like “The Duel” have received tie-in novels and comics, and “The Ninth Jedi” is now being developed into a full anime series slated for 2026, Lop’s journey seems to have stalled.

Star Wars: Visions Presents Could Feature Lop’s Return

There’s still a glimmer of hope for “Lop and Ocho”. At Star Wars Celebration in April, Lucasfilm revealed Star Wars: Visions Presents, a new series made up of Visions spinoffs, launching with The Ninth Jedi.

Where Else Might She Show Up in Star Wars?

If the Lepi protagonist isn’t picked up there, she could always resurface elsewhere — LEGO Star Wars: Rebuild the Galaxy — Pieces of the Past has already proven that lesser-used characters like Cal Kestis (Cameron Monaghan) can cross mediums.

Considering Jaxxon, another Lepi from Star Wars comics, has reappeared in animation, it wouldn’t be surprising to see Lop return eventually, whether in LEGO form or another.

Either way, Lop remains one of the most compelling non-human Jedi characters in Star Wars since Ahsoka Tano (Ashley Eckstein) was introduced in Star Wars: The Clone Wars (2008). And just look at how things turned out for the Togruta Jedi — she’s now one of the most popular characters from the faraway galaxy. So much, in fact, that she now has her own live-action series in which she’s played by Rosario Dawson. Speaking of live action, could that be where Lop shows up next? We’ll just have to wait and see what the future holds.

Star Wars: Visions Volume 3 will be released on October 29, 2025.
