Hundreds of guests were temporarily evacuated from the Disneyland Hotel on Wednesday after reported issues with the property’s sprinkler system, according to guest accounts shared online.

The incident occurred on December 31 and disrupted stays during one of the busiest travel periods of the year – one that’s already been impacted by heavy rain. No injuries were reported, and guests were eventually allowed to return to their rooms.

Disney has not issued a public statement detailing the cause or extent of the issue.

Sprinkler Malfunction Reported by Guests

According to guests staying at the hotel, sprinklers malfunctioned on certain floors, resulting in flooding in parts of the building. Posts describing the incident were shared on Reddit as the evacuation was underway.

Guests were asked to leave their rooms while cast members and emergency personnel addressed the issue. Some guests reported waiting outside the affected areas before being permitted to return.

Several guests indicated the incident followed recent plumbing-related issues at the hotel. One guest who stayed at the property between December 26 and December 28 wrote, “Came back 27th night and security informed me there were water pipe issues and all ice machines down except on 7th floor.”

The guest added, “Looks like they have been having lots of issues and hotel showing its age again and with such high room rates.”

In a later update, the guest who initially reported the evacuation noted that a cappella performers were brought in to entertain guests who were temporarily unable to access their rooms.

Similar Evacuations at Disney Properties

Evacuations are not uncommon at large hotel properties, including those operated by Disney, due to the scale and complexity of their infrastructure.

In 2025, Disney’s Grand Californian Hotel & Spa was evacuated on Valentine’s Day following what guests later described as a false alarm. Firefighters assessed the scene before allowing guests back inside.

The same hotel experienced another early-morning evacuation several months earlier, which also ended without reported damage or injuries.

Evacuations also occur within the theme parks themselves, where attractions and shows may be cleared to address safety concerns or technical issues.

Earlier this week, guests were escorted from the amphitheater hosting Indiana Jones Stunt Spectacular at Disney’s Hollywood Studios following a prop malfunction during a performance.

  1. It’s no wonder at all to see this!! They’ve done little to nothing re maintenance in the recent years, spanning back quite a while!! All they’re interested in is cutting everything from perks to rides, shows and attractions to CMs hours and even CMs themselves. I’m positive Uncle Walt is turning in his grave like a rotisserie, poor man!!! So very sick and sad that’s there’s not a single soul left with ethics, morals, values or a conscience. They’ll continue to tear, whittle, carve and starve themselves til the ultimate bad happens.
