Operations are changing for one of Disney’s most unpopular attractions.
Few modern Disney properties have translated into theme parks as consistently as Cars. Since Pixar’s 2006 film introduced Lightning McQueen and the dusty highways of Radiator Springs, the franchise has grown into a reliable presence across Disney parks worldwide.
The story — centered on a hotshot race car who learns humility in a forgotten desert town — quickly evolved beyond the screen. Merchandise, sequels, and park attractions followed, cementing Cars as one of Pixar’s most commercially durable brands.
Disney wasted little time integrating the franchise into its parks.
At Disney California Adventure, the company built an entire land devoted to Cars. Cars Land recreated Radiator Springs with impressive detail, including neon-lit storefronts, desert rock formations, and themed attractions.
Radiator Springs Racers became the centerpiece, combining animatronics with high-speed outdoor racing. Mater’s Junkyard Jamboree and Luigi’s Rollickin’ Roadsters rounded out the area, helping transform the park into one of the most immersive lands Disney has ever built.
Expansion is continuing elsewhere.
Magic Kingdom at Walt Disney World is preparing its own Cars-inspired area inside Frontierland. The project will be built around the Piston Peak concept, reimagining the franchise through the lens of a national park setting.
Not every park installation tied to Cars has been embraced quite as warmly.
A Cars Ride That Never Won Over Guests
At Disneyland Paris, the franchise appears in a much smaller form.

Inside Walt Disney Studios Park, guests can find Cars Quatre Roues Rallye, a spinning ride loosely themed around Luigi’s tire shop.
The park’s other Cars attraction is Cars ROAD TRIP, a tram-style experience that replaced Studio Tram Tour: Behind the Magic.
The original tram tour once served as one of the park’s signature attractions, showcasing filmmaking effects and studio sets inspired by working production facilities.
Cars ROAD TRIP reimagined the ride with a simplified storyline tied to the world of Cars. Guests board a tram and travel through scenes inspired by roadside attractions and exaggerated landscapes.
The response from visitors has been mixed at best.
Guests have argued that the attraction “barely qualifies as a ride,” with others describing it as a “waste of space” within the park.
Even so, the attraction has remained part of the park’s operating lineup since replacing the original tram tour.
That lineup, however, appears to be shifting slightly.
Disney Quietly Alters Ride Operations
Disneyland Paris has begun closing Cars ROAD TRIP earlier than the rest of Walt Disney Studios Park.
According to reports shared online, the attraction will “close earlier than planned during these coming days to facilitate the management of visitor flow.”

Images circulating from the park show cast members standing near barriers outside the attraction in the evening. A sign placed at the entrance reads, “Cars ROAD TRIP is closed for the evening.”
The attraction has not permanently closed.
Guests can still ride earlier in the day. The adjustment instead removes the attraction from the park’s nighttime schedule.
That timing arrives as Walt Disney Studios Park prepares for a dramatic transformation.
Beginning March 29, the park will adopt a new identity: Disney Adventure World. The rebranding coincides with the opening of World of Frozen, a major expansion themed to Disney’s blockbuster animated franchise.
Additional attractions are already in development.
Raiponce Tangled Spin — a new ride inspired by Tangled (2010) — will bring a lantern-themed spinning attraction similar in style to Mad Tea Party.
A new nighttime show titled Disney Cascade of Lights will also debut on Adventure Bay. The spectacle will combine drones, fountains, projection screens, water effects, and fireworks.
The transformation will continue in the years ahead.
Disney has also announced plans for a full land based on The Lion King (1994), including a Pride Rock attraction expected to feature large-scale flume elements reminiscent of Splash Mountain.
Within a park undergoing sweeping changes, the reduced operating hours for Cars ROAD TRIP may simply reflect shifting crowd patterns.
Still, the decision quietly sidelines an attraction that has long struggled to win over Disneyland Paris visitors.
