The D23 Expo in Anaheim felt like a massive victory lap for theme park purists. During the “Horizons” showcase, Disney Experience leadership officially confirmed four dream projects fans have been demanding for decades: overhauling Disneyland’s Tomorrowland, bringing back EPCOT’s Dreamfinder, repairing Expedition Everest’s broken Yeti, and updating Spaceship Earth.

However, once the initial cheers faded, parkgoers noticed a glaring omission across all four reveals. Disney officially confirmed these projects are “happening,” but provided zero opening dates, project timelines, or technical scopes of work.
Here is a look at the four legendary announcements that left fans thrilled, yet completely in the dark.
1. Tomorrowland Reimagined at Disneyland
Disneyland’s Tomorrowland has long been criticized for feeling stuck in the past. Disney executives addressed the issue head-on, with Disneyland Resort President Jill Estorino admitting the land feels “tired” and lacks a true vision for tomorrow. Imagineering confirmed a sweeping transformation to restore the land’s 1955 spirit of optimism, open space, and innovation.

However, Executive Creative Producer Emily O’Brien noted that teams are “literally just getting started.” With no ride concepts, budgets, or construction schedules revealed, it remains a mystery when work will actually begin.
2. Dreamfinder and Figment Reunite at EPCOT
For decades, EPCOT fans have campaigned for the return of the Dreamfinder to Journey Into Imagination. Disney delivered the ultimate fan-service reveal by confirming a top-to-bottom reimagining that reunites Figment and Dreamfinder on an all-new adventure.
Yet beyond confirming their reunion, Disney withheld every operational detail. There was no mention of new show scenes, a revised track layout, or when the current, heavily criticized version of the ride will close to make way for progress.
3. Fixing the “Disco Yeti” at Animal Kingdom
Since 2007, the 25-foot Yeti Audio-Animatronic inside Expedition Everest has stood motionless under strobe lights after its massive movements threatened the ride’s structure. At D23, Chairman Thomas Mazloum sent the crowd into hysterics by announcing Imagineering is officially repairing the Yeti to restore its original motion.

While the announcement signaled the end of the “Disco Yeti” era, Disney shared no technical details on how Imagineering plans to execute the fix, nor did they outline the extended ride closure that will inevitably be required.
4. Spaceship Earth’s Narrative Update
EPCOT’s iconic geodesic sphere is preparing for its first narrative refresh in nearly two decades. Imagineers announced a narrative shift, pivoting the attraction’s focus from the history of human communication to the broader theme of “human connection.”

While the new storyline sounds promising, Disney omitted all operational facts—including a closure timeframe, the reveal of a new narrator, or details on which classic scenes will be replaced.
Patience Required for Disney’s Future
By officially greenlighting these four legendary requests, Disney proved it has its finger on the pulse of the fan community. However, the complete absence of dates, budgets, and scopes of work indicates these concepts are still in their earliest stages. While these fan-favorite updates are officially on the way, Disney fans will need to pack plenty of patience before seeing them become a reality.
