There has been a lot of excitement building up to Walt Disney World’s 50th Anniversary Celebration this month. We have been anxiously waiting for new firework shows in both Magic Kingdom and EPCOT, a new ride to open in Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure, and so much more. With all the focus on Walt Disney World’s 50th Anniversary Celebration, there might have been some things that we have forgotten about that are still coming in the future. We have a quick look at what is still to come even after October 1st and all the celebrations.

Drawn to Life

Over in Disney Springs, we are looking forward to the premiere of the new show Drawn to Life. Originally scheduled to open in 2020, this new show will be coming to Cirque du Soleil starting November 18th. Suppose you haven’t heard much about the show. In that case, it focuses on a young girl whose father is an animator. She goes on a magical journey through the history of Disney animation to finish her father’s recent story. The new show will be focused and inspired by Disney animation and feature original animations, acrobatics, and special choreography. We look forward to taking a journey through Disney memories, and this will be a wonderful addition to Disney Springs and Disney World overall.

Also coming to EPCOT in the future will be a new Play Pavilion. This pavilion will feature interactive aspects that allow Guests to have fun with some of their favorite Disney characters. The new pavilion will be located in the new Wonders of Life Pavilion in EPCOT as part of the transformation happening in this theme Park. Although we don’t have an official opening date for this area, we are looking forward to new technological advancements.

Wondrous China

It would be easy to forget this announcement, but previously Disney announced a series of new films that would be coming to EPCOT in the future. We have seen the addition of the Beauty and the Beast sing-along to France and the new Awesome Planet Guests can enjoy in The Land Pavilion. However, we are still waiting on Wondrous China to replace Reflections in the China Pavilion. We have been waiting for almost a year for this new film but have not heard anything official from Disney.

Round Up Rodeo BBQ

We get hungry just thinking about the new table-service location coming to Toy Story Land in Disney’s Hollywood Studios. Work has begun on Roundup Rodeo BBQ, a family-friendly dining experience where Guests will shrink to the size of a toy. We are still waiting on an official menu and opening date, but we know that delicious barbecue dishes will be on the menu for sure. Our one wish at the dining location that doesn’t seem to be happening is a character meal. We would have loved to see Buzz, Woody, Jessie, and friends greeting and hanging out with their fellow toys.

EPCOT’s Birthday

Yes, that is right! Many might not know that EPCOT will be celebrating its 40th Anniversary on October 1st, 2022. We anticipate a lot of fun, exciting happenings to be announced to help EPCOT celebrate this big anniversary. We hope to see new rides, entertainment, dining, and shopping coming to EPCOT as we get closer to the fall of 2022.

Guardians of the Galaxy:  Cosmic Rewind

It is coming! The highly anticipated new thrilling attraction for EPCOT Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind will be coming in 2022! We will be able to chase through space and time on this new technologically advanced ride. There have been some sneak peeks at the Wonders of Xandar Pavilion, and we are thrilled with what we have seen so far. This new ride will feature a new type of roller coaster experience called a story coaster. The ride vehicle will rotate 360 degrees making sure the riders are always focused on the fun, thrilling action as they are helping the Guardians save the galaxy. Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind will also feature the first reverse launch in Disney history and is one of the longest enclosed coasters in the world. We can’t wait to see how this new magical experience will allow us to dream and connect with experiences out of this world.

TRON Lightcycle Run

Over in the Magic Kingdom, we are anxiously awaiting the arrival of the newest thrill ride TRON Lightcycle Run. We have been watching the construction of this coaster over the last few years and are so happy to see the progress. Disney has yet to announce an opening date for TRON; we are hopeful that we will be riding in the next year. Even though we know what to expect overall from this ride, as it is coming from Shanghai Disneyland, we can’t wait to get a firsthand experience in the Magic Kingdom.

It has been so magical and exciting to celebrate Walt Disney World’s 50th anniversary; however, we are just excited for all the rides, shows, and attractions coming in the future throughout Walt Disney World. One of the reasons we love our Disney World vacation is because there is something new and exciting to experience every time. What are you looking forward to in the next few years? Are you looking forward to having some bbq in Toy Story Land or racing through the galaxy with the Guardians? To think this is just what we currently know is coming in the future- we can’t wait to see what else Disney could announce!

About Jennifer Retzlaff

My name is Jennifer Retzlaff and I became a lifelong Disney fan during my first trip to Walt Disney World in 6th grade. From that moment, Disney became a big part of my life. I live in Iowa with my husband and two kids who are growing up too quickly for my liking. I started introducing my love for Disney early to my family with a Disney honeymoon and then trips when our youngest of 18 months. Since then, our family has been to Walt Disney World over five times and we continue to plan and dream for the next trip. I love the magic that Disney brings to people through the theme parks, cruises, adventures and movies they create. As a teacher, I try to bring that magic into my classroom to help kids believe that “If You Can Dream It, You Can Do It.” I recently reached a dream of mine as I joined Magic Vacation Planner as a personal travel advisor. With this team, I can now help others plan magical vacations. As a passionate writer, I also have my own blog at magicalvacationsbyjen which is also where you can follow me on instagram for trip reviews along with tips and tricks for your next magical vacation.
