While we talk mostly about the Disney Theme Parks here at Disney Tips, sometimes we will add information on other area attractions. There is a lot of exciting news coming out of Kennedy Space Center that we thought we would share.

Astronauts used to be part of the experience at the Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex. You could meet an astronaut and learn more about what it’s like to visit space. Things changed because of COVID-19, but Kennedy Space Center has announced that the astronauts are returning!

ASTRONAUT ENCOUNTER RETURNS DECEMBER 13, 2021

For the first time in almost 2 years, astronauts are returning to Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex! 

Each day at Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex, visitors get the rare opportunity to meet veteran NASA astronauts. During Astronaut Encounter, commanders, pilots, mission and payload specialists who have lived and worked in space share their experiences during a live presentation and question & answer session. You may also visit the Astronaut of the Day at The Space Shop or Shuttle Express for his or her autograph. 

Please check the Daily Schedule upon arrival for show times and autograph opportunities. You may also visit the Event Calendar to see who is the Astronaut of the Day on the date of your visit. This presentation is located in Universe Theater, presented by Northrop Grumman.

This is all included with your Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex admission. The schedule is as follows:

Don Thomas | December 13 – 14

Mike Baker | December 15 – 18

Ken Cameron | December 19 – 22

Norm Thagard | December 23 – 28

Tony Antonelli | December 29 – January 2

Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex is a great destination if you want to spend a day outside of the Walt Disney World bubble. It’s also popular for those who have a cruise planned out of Port Canaveral.

The U.S. Astronaut Hall of Fame is located inside the Heroes & Legends exhibit. Another must-see is the Rocket Garden. If you time your visit right, you might even see a rocket launch!
