A hugely popular Southern California event took place over the weekend. San Diego Comic-Con 2022 gave movie buffs and Disney enthusiasts several exclusive sneak peeks of exciting new films in the works!
Marvel was the star of the show with multiple announcements of several new sequels soon to grace theatres. Some standouts included Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, Captain America: New World Order, and Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3.
Perhaps one of the most exciting pieces of information fans learned at the event was news of two new Avengers movies planned for 2025! While some thought that Avengers: Endgame (2019) would close the beloved series, the audience was thrilled to hear of plans for new films.
Avengers: The Kang Dynasty is set to release in theatres in May 2025, while Avengers: Secret Wars will debut in November 2025. This is the first time we’ve ever seen two Avengers movies released in the same year!
All this talk about the Avengers as of late, from the movie announcements to the new Avengers Campus that just opened in Disneyland Paris, has some Guests wondering about Walt Disney World.
Although Florida’s Disney Theme Parks contain certain aspects of Marvel, there is no designated land like the ones in Disneyland California and Paris. This is due to a contract with Universal that prohibits Disney from opening a land on the East coast with the name “Marvel” in it.
Tik Toker bibbidi.bobbidi.beard shared a tongue-in-cheek video with his ideas for a Marvel-themed area at Walt Disney World Resort. He suggested that Disney create a simpler version of Avenger’s Campus by retheming some of the attractions already located in EPCOT.
@bibbidi.bobbidi.beard Replying to @thatbeardednerd i mean…Disney, this could be a thing! #marvel #mcu #disney #disneyparks #disneylife #avengerscampus #distok
According to the video, the Disney creator suggests taking advantage of the area where Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind is since it already has its own separate, unique feel. A mild retheme of Space 220 could transform it into a Sword Station in orbit, or perhaps Test Track could become an Agents of Shield ride.
With some new characters, kiosks, and signage, the area could provide an Avengers Campus feel without going full fledge like some of the other Parks. Of course, the deal with Universal would have to be adjusted, but Disney has overcome greater obstacles!
