“It all started with a mouse” is a beloved statement well known and loved by the Disney community. Walt Disney said this on a television show in 1954, one year before his first Park opened.
But, when it comes to Disney’s theme parks, which total twelve now (excluding Disney’s Blizzard Beach and Typhoon Lagoon Water Parks in Florida), it all started with Disneyland. Though sometimes put down for its smaller size and more modest offerings, Guests that have visited the Park know the special charm of this magical place.
Disneyland turned 67 yesterday, with Guests celebrating together at the Park in various ways. Unique food offerings and novelties were available, and Disney influencers showed up in full force, with some, such as TikTok creator @thejungleskipper doing livestreams the entire day!
Though there have often been unnecessary rivalries between Walt Disney World fans and Disneyland fans, the Disney community is united in their love and appreciation for the man who imagined it all. We all know the story of Walt Disney and the jolt of inspiration that came on a simple day at Griffith Park with his daughters.
Longing to be more than an observer, Walt envisioned a place where parents and children could enjoy their time together. Though his dream would not be realized until many years later, it only took a spark to light the fire that would soon ignite Disneyland Park’s creation.
If Disneyland were never created, there would be no other Disney theme parks. Despite its smaller countenance, it still ranks near the top of the list when it comes to the most visited Disney Parks.
Second only to the Magic Kingdom, Guests flock to the Resort for a chance to walk in the footsteps of its benevolent creator. With Walt Disney’s dedication speech playing in the back of their minds as they stroll down the original Main Street, U.S.A., there is something uniquely magical about this quaint little theme Park.
Needless to say, I think it’s done pretty well for itself. Happy 67 Birthday, Disneyland!
